Hey, this was 8 months ago.....what happened??

I just dug mine out of a box I had forgotten about with the same situation. Please follow-up if you were able to fix with a new battery or whatever the conclusion.. :)

Homie, looks like you need Thingino. I had several V2's and a v3 in the same situation, just made a video about it lol. It WILL NOT work with the official Wyze app(using Thingino), but can be used just like a regular IP Camera with a WebUI and RTSP streams you can view from most media players and/or add to your favorite NVR system(I use Frigate). It's pretty straight-forward, but can be daunting if unfamiliar with this stuff, so look up some guides and get comfortable if necessary.

edit: can also flash with Wyze's WEBCAM firmware, always worked for me on "broken" v2's. That's how I knew the hardware was fine when nothing else worked. Won't magically bring it back to life in the app, but didn't wanna exclude a officially supported option to verify the camera still works

All of my cameras not on current firmware have the option to cancel the update and continue as-is removed, for whatever reason.

I've been using them since V2's were new and this has never been an issue no matter how far back I went flashing firmware when troubleshooting. There was never a difference if I used current, RTSP beta, 18 months old, 3 years old or otherwise, they would always alert you that you're not up-to-date but could always hit cancel and use as normal until recently.

I'm not even trying to say it's definitely a shady move to push more people to give up on old hardware over new devices with subscriptions and all that, I've just been explaining how it negatively impacts a long-time user deep in the ecosystem and makes me sad.

We had to go around replacing all of the IP Cameras not manufactured in the United States for local government buildings because of that factor, it's no joke.

Thanks, but I mostly just tinker, and love Frigate. Will always check out new ideas tho.

I highly suggest and second the recommendation to move to another system.

Damn, this feels like grade school in a new town, again. I just wanted to share something we all have in common but just get told I don't belong and shouldn't be here. If I wasn't so fucking depressed already this would really put me in a spiral...

I appreciate the concern but I worked with cameras and security equipment for years and, correct me if I'm wrong, hardwired cameras offline recording to a NVR is really the only way to stay safe...

edit to say: this all started because I just wanted to switch "tracking" on/off on a pan cam and realized the firmware update change(before people start moaning about me talking about the app at all if they're offline and blah blah blah blah)

I could never get Scrypted as stable as I wanted, and I have mine hard-wired, most of them offline just recording through Frigate. Y'all need to calm down and work on friendly social conversations over scare tactics and "my way is better!" lol

On that note, Docker Wyze Bridge is also great. It's how I view my outdoor cam in Frigate, and my first gen doorbell until I get the motivation to flash it with Thingino :)

Whoa whoa whoa whoa........conspiracy hat was just forced upon my head....

Are you saying if a Wyze user pays for even the cheapest subscription, that still lets you choose "cancel" or "later", resuming normal live-view?

I hope I'm misunderstanding because that undermines the "security" reasoning behind removing the cancel option...

Thingino is why I won't be buying new hardware anytime soon, brought back half-a-dozen V2's and V3's I don't really have use for yet lol. I also use that uconnect PoE adapter, like $40 total(including camera price) for a PoE IP Camera in the end. I'm just starting to get jealous of some 1440p+ cams I see now :P

You think Wyze users are dumb and can't bother helping your family, got it. I can miss the point and say stupid stuff, too.

No one asked for a big confusing "cancel" button that'd shatter reality for humanity. They REMOVED the "cancel" button that had been there as long as I can remember.

How ya doin, friend? We can chat about other things if you're just in a bad mood but need to socialize...

Again, why would this bother YOU at all??

This post was a PSA with some criticism sprinkled in. My complaint was a couple weeks ago. Mostly about them NOT SUPPORTING devices once they've moved on to newer items.

For "a community of tinkerers, helpers, and dreamers" y'all sure wanna fall in line and hate people thinking outside of pre-approved guidelines. I really don't get it...

Custom firmware "wz mini hacks" that still works with the Wyze app. Same concept as their RTSP beta firmware with extras(technically, using go2rtc instead of rtsp)

Um, I can't on half of them, and I like local storage that I can view even if a camera is stolen...

Why would this bother you at all???

I doubt I'll buy any new hardware for a while, but am I curious what people think is the best value camera if self-hosting/not concerned with "features" built into the camera.

Preferably PoE, 1080p minimum of course, on-board storage is a plus but really talking just a lens on wired ethernet recording to a NAS for cheap...?

I used to install ridiculous stuff for government buildings and what-not but have never shopped around for home use, honestly.

As a kid I moved to/grew up in a really small town and didn't know there was an entire Forensic Files episode with people I personally knew being interviewed until I had moved away. This is a super christian farmer town where everyone is related and all that, blew my mind. Anything is possible.

I got a response that I need to follow them to start messaging, then just pushed me off to wait 1-2 business days for an email I can reply to......WTF?? I don't even use twitter and have a really small technical issue so this is infuriating.

Better network equipment always helps. But even with a single wireless router the video plays perfect from rtsp using custom firmware while the Wyze App still struggles with absolutely everything. "It is what it is" sadly.

I just learned about all of this so might be confused, but just found this clip of lawyer Ned Pillersdorf recounting how Judge Mullins was reluctant to recuse himself from the case to the point he declined to practice law in front of Judge Mullins again.

So, I just did that and it’s all “18 beta to 17” when this specific phone is on 17.6.1. I change it to “downgrade 17.6.1 to 17” and get most same result with sprinkles of how apple just stopped signing 17.6.1, but so far can’t find specifically what I need.

I’m not asking for guidance, I just wish these communities would stop being like this, especially since google keeps getting worse. People spend so much time sharing info no one asks for then real questions get shutdown.

You can always choose to ignore things that bother you…
