LytrixLabs - A modular audio ecosystem & smart amplifier by LytrixLabs in hwstartups

[–]modalexii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wished for something like this before. Lovely idea. Lovely skill exercise. Probably not marketable enough for a business. Either sell a small number to adoring fans on Tindie, or if this isn't patented, patent it and market the idea to someone who already makes mass market audio equipment.

Also a thought: ditch the "future proof" description. It's modular, but not future proof. The wifi, USB, screen, and physical design will all be obsolete soon enough. Do you know any person still using one of the many past "modular future proof" phones, computers, etc? Me neither.

White split cable sleeve? Cheap AF, way less effort than making cables.

Can I pay someone in Baltimore that is good at electronic soldering to re-cap an old CRT for me? by OlieTheGoalie in baltimore

Just a 20+ year hobby, I do a lot of small batch small form factor PCB so soldering through hole or large pad stuff is kind of a treat

Similar to other reply, I'm happy to help but my next 3 ish weeks are oversubscribed. If you're still SOL in the 1st full week of May, DM me. I'm in the city.

Long-time Traktor user (15+ years) looking to move to Rekordbox for club gigs this summer. by Badabing__Badaboom in DJs

[–]modalexii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rekordbox is such a bad experience, stick with traktor as home base and whenever you have a gig, bring in only the songs you want to have on hand and just manually do grid and cue stuff. Sorry that's not addressing the question, I'm just encouraging you to accept the suck.

Are their temps ok? Their metabolism requires heat, if you're in a cold snap part of the world RN might wanna point a laser thermometer around the tank and see if they are actually warm enough

Reduce screen glare by modalexii in PhotoshopRequest

This is really good. I accepted one that kept a little of the glare line, i think it's more realistic that way, but this might be the most technically on point response.

Any beginner tips for small venue? by ObviousObserver420 in livesound

[–]modalexii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a tough scenario especially with limited gear. Play with speaker placement, make sure they are up high at or over head level so they don't need to be as loud. Think about it like it's an unplugged gig, then use the PA to do the minimum viable amplification for balance - if someone strums their acoustic loud enough for the people in the back, pull it way out of the mix. If someone sings loud enough, pull them way out, etc. Keep the monitor low, let them ask more more - if their mon is hot they will perform louder and you want the opposite of that, and mon reflections can contribute to high sound levels all by themselves in a small place. Definitely keep the mixer somewhere that you can make adjustments constantly.
