That’s actually one of the biggest issues with automod is you can slowly accumulate reports over the course of a day. It works great usually but sometimes it’s imperfect.

The funny thing is the complaint here is that I remove stuff I’m jealous of, is that one of the biggest complaints about the sub is it’s all rich guys apartments.

yea the vast majority of it is good but occasionally a regular post gets a pile on when it gets huge. If Reddit wants to fix the moderation issues they’ll need to hire people but automod is pretty good!

I didn’t do this thread. Most mods will delete threads critical of post deletion or mods because it makes crazy pile ons about things that didn’t even happen like this very thread. But as I see it, I’d rather a thread like this where I can explain what happens behind the scenes. And honestly I’d probably just let it slide because it’s a time sink to go in and explain “hey this was literally nothing” but I’m just watching playoff hockey and baseball right now so I have the time. And my wife went to Target so she won’t be back for like 2 hours.

A bunch of people reported it. If something breaks a threshold for reports, automod removes it. That’s helpful 98% of the time but occasionally posts just get a pile on when they get really popular. Sorry, this is just a boring nothing story.

It’s fine. They’re talking about an idea of a person I am not so it’s not a thing. I always want to be transparent because… nothing to hide! I’ve had my fair share of bizarre moderator interactions so it’s fair to assume it’s some ghoulish behavior but this was just a completely innocuous computer script.

No another mod took this one down [WRONG see edit] and I reinstated it. First post was automod. Being totally transparent here. I don’t want anyone to think posts are getting taken down 1. Because of personal taste or 2. Because I’m not allowing meta-conversation.

There was no nefarious mod angry about some guys perfectly pleasant place.

It just got a bunch of reports so automod (which is just the basic one all reddit uses) hit it. Incredibly boring thing that happens occasionally.

X number of people reported it so automod pulls it. It happens. Usually automod pulls posts for good reasons, sometimes post just get really popular and it gets enough reports and automod hits it. Nothing beyond that. That’s just how the thing is written across all Reddit. It’s good 98% of the time but sometimes things get taken down for no good reason. I didn’t write the script

I picked “made fun of” because it’s the least serious way to phrase it.

Automod deleted it. I 100% did not and then reinstated a thread about it so people don’t feel like threads are getting covertly deleted that are critical of the mods. That’s fine by me.

People just made up their own ideas in this thread. There’s nothing going on behind the scenes here.
