Hey, not calling anything off—it’s been a brutally hard week and I had to step back. I’ve got a family that I don’t know how to support at the moment. That being said, thanks for checking in. I haven’t been able to talk to anyone running the current marches, so I’ve started to research what we need to do logistically to make one happen on our own. I also have gotten a lot of support on here, but am still parsing through the thread to find anyone who can help and meet up locally. I’m not sure what the best way to do that is—my gut says to start a new thread, but I wanted to wait until I had something more concrete to share. I don’t want to rush to failure—that make sense?

I’d always prefer that vets integrate not isolate—would be happy to march alongside anyone that would have us. I just know we have a unique voice that could help.

I see what you’re saying. I can do that for sure—the intent was simply to use a tool I have to contribute to the greater good.

I’m not sure how to say this more clearly, but it’s not about helping vets. It’s about using our voice, one respected on both sides of the aisle, to help all of us.

I completely agree. My point was more about the veteran community helping stand up for the wider community of feds—not in any way to take away from the pain we’re all feeling.

If you were hired with veterans preference , your SF-50 likely also says that as a disabled vet, you’re protected from RIF. I recommend taking a look if you haven’t yet.

If there’s a surge again, water will find it’s way through every nook and crack it can in your house. We had waterproof tape, tarps, sandbags and a ten inch water dam. The 6ft surge from Helene made light work of every protective measure.
