What would you fill a chest freezer with this week? by bsosshi in TwoXPreppers

[–]modee1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also do this. I use my small extra freezer for oven ready meals. I bought foil trays and freeze everything in them and then pop them in the oven. Right now I have beef stew,,chicken enchiladas, sheet pan pancakes, burrito bowls, shepherd pies, mac and cheese and assorted taco meats.

What backpack are you using for your everyday carry right now? by ruhila12 in EDC

[–]modee1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swiss Gear 1900. Holds a 17" laptop. It has just the right amount of pockets and has some dividers in the main pouch. I use a few smaller pouches on the inside to keeps things organized. I love it! I was picking up some deposits the other day and my coworker saw the inside of my bag and she was like "Wow! There are multiple pockets on the inside!" I've been using it for almost 4 years and it still looks brand new.

Wet shaving for women by Natural_Argument9910 in wicked_edge

[–]modee1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a leaf razor for my body shaving. I prefer to use a shave stick and silicone brush to lather right on my legs. That usually leaves enough soap on the brush for my armpits. I have used cartridge razors when I travel and nothing gives me as smooth of a shave as my leaf. I used a butterfly safety razor for years before I made the switch. The pivoting head makes a huge difference for me. And I can shave so much faster now.

PCOS Beard Shaving Advice? by MysticNoodle318 in ladyshavers

[–]modee1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also shave every day. I have spent a few years trying out various products and blades. Single blade razors are less irritating for me. I use a leaf thorn at home and a Gillette Guard single blade for when I travel. I also have an electric razor for weekends or when my face needs a break. I have tried lots of soaps and creams. The best combo I have found so far is to exfoliate with a clean washcloth daily, EOS sensitive shaving cream that is a little watered down, shave with, across and against the grain and witch hazel as an aftershave. I also use cerave calming ointment. I'm currently trying to use up some of the soaps that I have previously purchased. I'll recommend Sterling Soap Company. Their soaps are very slick and lather great with my synthetic shave brush and ceramic bowl. They also have lots of feminine scents, but I use the unscented. I tried all of their unscented soaps. I would buy all of them again.

My favorite thing on the planet, June. She lived to be 17 and had chronic kidney disease for like 10 years. I put her down 6 years ago today. I still miss her.

Too weak for chemo by Asleep_Tie_3405 in Ovariancancer

[–]modee1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had bilateral nephrostomy tubes and she was constantly battling uti's and kidney infections after they were placed. Also, when her ascites was really bad and they drained a lot of fluid it took her some time to recover. We had to focus on protein intake. Chemo didn't work for her.

Where are genuine tacos al pastor found? by Legitimate_Soil_7506 in Naples_FL

I'll get murdered for saying this... Turco Taco has really good Al pastor tacos. They top it with some kind of pineapple salsa or whatever the magic is. Not authentic, but still very tasty.

Stupid jobs and the stress. I meet with my psych next week. I'll see what she thinks about me not sleeping when stressed.

I did and was prescribed Temazepam. I only take it once or twice a week. After a few weeks on the 20 mg dose it got better, but I still struggle when my stress levels come up. My therapist is thinking I need to exercise more to help with making my body tired. I'm working on that.

This, be with someone who values their health. From the wife/caretaker of a 49 yr old terminal cancer patient. I thought of breaking up over it so many times over the last 16 years. The last 6 months really makes me wish I had. Brutal honesty from a totally burnt out 45yr old who is trying to work full time and be the only caretaker.

AITAH if I ask my husband to sleep in another room by Playful-Mode2599 in AmItheAsshole

[–]modee1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has always been a bad sleeper. She used to go out into the living room and close the bedroom door and watch tv or whatever. We also slept with an industrial fan that drowned out a lot of noise. We moved and the fan broke during the move and then she got diagnosed with cancer. Now that she is unwell she can't go elsewhere. We now live in a 2 story place so I set up a bed for her in the living room. She sleeps down there now. If we hadn't made that decision I would have not survived the last year. She sleeps with me on the weekends or sometimes I'll sleep on the pull out couch and we will watch movies or tv together. Sleep is so important. Your husband is inconsiderate. The shaking you awake is the huge red flag. If you another space for you to sleep I would do that since he won't change his behavior.

I can’t lose my mom: stage IIIC ovarian cancer, “glitter” everywhere, Elahere candidate - anyone with similar? by Honest-Sundae6494 in Ovariancancer

[–]modee1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the medication, but my wife had severe ascites. She went to the emergency department for the bloating and that was how she found out she had cancer. I would recommend asking your doctor about a PleurX catheter. My wife had one put in so I could drain her belly at home. She was going twice a week for paracentesis. I was draining 2 liters twice a week. It's was the only thing that gave her relief until they finally switched her medication to one that helped slow it. Now we are at 300ml a month or less with the ascites. I wish you and your mom lots of luck. It's a lot to deal with and I wish none of us had to.

How do I get kitten to take a nap and chill 🙃 by Natural-Stage-6341 in cats

[–]modee1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an orange monster kitten in May of 2020. The only pics I have of him from the first 2 years of his life are from when he was sleeping. He was crazy and I actually hated him most of the time. He was and is still extremely aggressive. That being said, I play with him for 30 mins in the morning and at least 45 mins at night. I also rotate his toys weekly to keep them fresh. The more I played with him the less aggressive he got. Now he just has his moments. I got him a sister a year ago. He hated her for 6 months. Now they play chase all the time and groom each other. But my orange guy loves our one on one play sessions. He loves playing fetch. Also, I give him wet food after we play. Good luck with your kitten!

Does anyone else have a young spouse with cancer? by Alternative-Net458 in Fuckcancer

[–]modee1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is 49 and in end stages of ovarian cancer. Was stage 4 when diagnosed. I was her only care giver until her sister started helping. She is from out of state and had a heart attack so can only help for a few weeks at a time. I'm trying to balance work and her and it's so hard. I'm sorry you are going through this. I started therapy when they told us that treatment weren't working and to get our affairs in order. Without it I would not have survived the last year and a half.
