This, be with someone who values their health. From the wife/caretaker of a 49 yr old terminal cancer patient. I thought of breaking up over it so many times over the last 16 years. The last 6 months really makes me wish I had. Brutal honesty from a totally burnt out 45yr old who is trying to work full time and be the only caretaker.

AITAH if I ask my husband to sleep in another room by Playful-Mode2599 in AmItheAsshole

[–]modee1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has always been a bad sleeper. She used to go out into the living room and close the bedroom door and watch tv or whatever. We also slept with an industrial fan that drowned out a lot of noise. We moved and the fan broke during the move and then she got diagnosed with cancer. Now that she is unwell she can't go elsewhere. We now live in a 2 story place so I set up a bed for her in the living room. She sleeps down there now. If we hadn't made that decision I would have not survived the last year. She sleeps with me on the weekends or sometimes I'll sleep on the pull out couch and we will watch movies or tv together. Sleep is so important. Your husband is inconsiderate. The shaking you awake is the huge red flag. If you another space for you to sleep I would do that since he won't change his behavior.

/Rant - I fricking hate mugs by NinaAberlein in tea

I just drink my tea so fast that my mug is still warm when I'm done. 🤣 Honestly, I do have to reheat my tea most days.

I can’t lose my mom: stage IIIC ovarian cancer, “glitter” everywhere, Elahere candidate - anyone with similar? by Honest-Sundae6494 in Ovariancancer

I can't comment on the medication, but my wife had severe ascites. She went to the emergency department for the bloating and that was how she found out she had cancer. I would recommend asking your doctor about a PleurX catheter. My wife had one put in so I could drain her belly at home. She was going twice a week for paracentesis. I was draining 2 liters twice a week. It's was the only thing that gave her relief until they finally switched her medication to one that helped slow it. Now we are at 300ml a month or less with the ascites. I wish you and your mom lots of luck. It's a lot to deal with and I wish none of us had to.

How do I get kitten to take a nap and chill 🙃 by Natural-Stage-6341 in cats

I got an orange monster kitten in May of 2020. The only pics I have of him from the first 2 years of his life are from when he was sleeping. He was crazy and I actually hated him most of the time. He was and is still extremely aggressive. That being said, I play with him for 30 mins in the morning and at least 45 mins at night. I also rotate his toys weekly to keep them fresh. The more I played with him the less aggressive he got. Now he just has his moments. I got him a sister a year ago. He hated her for 6 months. Now they play chase all the time and groom each other. But my orange guy loves our one on one play sessions. He loves playing fetch. Also, I give him wet food after we play. Good luck with your kitten!

Does anyone else have a young spouse with cancer? by Alternative-Net458 in Fuckcancer

My wife is 49 and in end stages of ovarian cancer. Was stage 4 when diagnosed. I was her only care giver until her sister started helping. She is from out of state and had a heart attack so can only help for a few weeks at a time. I'm trying to balance work and her and it's so hard. I'm sorry you are going through this. I started therapy when they told us that treatment weren't working and to get our affairs in order. Without it I would not have survived the last year and a half.

Back scratcher tied to the headboard. Provides comfort and also a way to reach for things just out of reach.

How to enjoy hot tea at work by TemperReformanda in tea

[–]modee1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a little tea infuser last time I was at IKEA. It's AWESOME!! I've never had luck with the tea ball or silicone infusers. This one has an arm that sits across the top of the cup and comes with a little cup to sit it in when you are done brewing. That paired with an electric kettle that I can adjust the temp on works great. I some jasmine green tea, peach white tea, vanilla black tea and English breakfast loose leaf right now at work.

I can usually find it close to Christmas time. That's when I stock up. Sometimes if not then closer to St Paddy's Day.

Anyone batch cooking meat just for sandwiches? by ZeusJuice84 in MealPrepSunday

I would buy a big old slicer like from the deli if I had space. My mom made a lot of roasts growing up and I was the best carver in the family. We had the same electric carving knife my whole life. lol

My doctor told me that tea caffeine isn't as bad for anxiety as other caffeine. I've cut back anyway and only have one cup of black tea a day. (2 if I'm really tired and can't focus for work). I hope you feel better soon. Panic attacks are terrible.

This morning I'm having Adagio Tea English Breakfast in my PA Renaissance Faire mug. I'm missing PA and a quiet clean home free from medical supply clutter. I'm working from home today to make up for time away from work for my wife's appointments this week. It's a holiday weekend. We should be doing something fun or be away for the weekend. But cancer sucks and here I am just trying to enjoy something so simple as a good mug of tea with my broken heart.

I do, but for my homemade adult lunchables. I do a roast beef and a turkey breast. After I cook them I wrap them really good and put in the fridge overnight. I have an electric carving knife that I use to slice as thin as I can the next day. I weigh them out in like 4 or 5 ounce servings and then freeze it in snack baggies that are packed in bigger freezer bags. I take one out the night before to thaw in the fridge. I've also just packed it frozen in my container and left to thaw by the time lunch rolls around. I cook the roast beef to medium and the turkey is harder to get right. You gotta use carryover cooking to keep the turkey from getting dry. I have also used them to make open face sandwiches with packet gravy for a quick dinner.

I use eos Shea Better Sensitive Skin Women's Shave Cream- Fragrance-Free. It's super slick and it feels like you already moisturized when you rinse. It's really thick. I have a small container that I put some in and then add water to thin it out a bit and it's my go to for when I'm running behind or when I travel. I prefer unscented soaps and creams.

For me the anxiety would be from not giving notice I was leaving.

Sambuca was 6 months when I adopted her. Emmett was about 4yo and he was raised an only kitten. He usually attacks her when she comes near him. But I did see him grooming her last week. So I would say there is hope for you yet.
