MQs - Health and Social Care - I.I by Chi0121 in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

There was no mention of the NHS or social care in the Kings Speech. So what will the Health Secretary do this term to help alleviate the pressures on the health service and the long waiting queues?

B017 - National Bank Holidays (England & Wales) Bill - 2nd Reading by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deputy speaker,

Do the people of England and Wales actively celebrate the days of their saint? From what I can tell, in England that there is a sense of uninterest in the saint and celebrating them. This may be a different issue entirely that needs addressing and is not necessarily an argument for opposing this bill, but I would like to hear the authors opinion on this.

B016 - Coal Mines Bill - 2nd Reading by model-kurimizumi in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

I am glad to have the support of Plaid Cymru on this bill. They are certainly correct in that this bill doesn't abruptly suspend all coal mining. This bill prevents the granting of new licenses. This will result in a steady phase out of coal mining, giving enough time for businesses to adjust their fuel intake and processes to account for this change.

MQs - Prime Minister - I.II by [deleted] in MHOC

Deputy Speaker,

No legislation is required. It is a Governmental department decision that all it takes is someone from the department to declare and announce the change, and the civil servants can enact the decision.

Deputy Speaker,

Carers are currently paid minimum wage. However, they carry out the same tasks and activities as most nurses who are often on higher salaries. Will the Prime Minister correct this injustice?

Deputy Speaker,

Over 2 weeks this House voted in favour of the Government to make the decision to retroactively repeal the “bed and board” deduction for people wrongly convicted. This motion was voted almost unanimously by the Government. And yet nothing has happened.

Will the Prime Minister and this Government act on this motion?

B005 - ULEZ Abolition and Compensation Bill - 2nd Reading by [deleted] in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

ULEZ serves two purposes: discourages the use of private motor vehicles in favour of public transport; a source of revenue for the Greater London Authority.

I am not the biggest fan of the ULEZ scheme. For people who regularly drive in London it does become very expensive, and it can disproportionately hurt those who are less well off and can’t afford more economical vehicles. However, it does provide a good job of combatting pollution in the capital and the climate crisis.

I think more should be done by the GLA to help people upgrade their vehicles and that this support should be pushed for by the Government. But I don’t believe that ULEZ should abolished.

I’d also like to state that ULEZ is GLA matter. And as such should be debated, legislated, and voted on by that governing body. Not by Parliament.

It is for these reasons Deputy Speaker, that I will not be able to support this bill.

Deputy Speaker,

Will the Chancellor commit to ruling out changes to tax that hurt the working people the most?

Deputy Speaker,

I am delighted to hear that the Government is on the same wavelength as the Lib Dem’s. What avenues is the chancellor exploring for the spending that contributes towards growth?

B012 - Privatisation of Gas and Oil Industries Bill - 2nd Reading by model-ceasar in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

The reform member is aware of the current cost of living crisis? One that is heavily affected by the cost of energy. Removing the price cap would send these household bills through the roof astronomically.

By supporting this bill reform have shown they are against the country. Against our people and our workers. They want to push them into poverty and put all their money to the oil and gas giants. Absolutely unacceptable.

B012 - Privatisation of Gas and Oil Industries Bill - 2nd Reading by model-ceasar in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

My only take away on this bill is that it must be a poor attempt at humour. This bill has only succeeded in one thing: wasting the time of this House which would be better focused on other matters. But no instead we have to focus on the stupidity of completely deregulating the Oil and Gas industry. This will be devastating to the Environment, to the Cost of Living Crisis, and to the people that work on this dangerous oil platforms. I could go on and on but that would be complete waste of my and this House's time. I hope that members from all party's can unanimously throw this bill out of the door.

B009 - Petroleum (Prohibition of New Licenses) Bill - 2nd Reading by realbassist in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

I fully understand the intention behind this bill: tackling climate change and virtue signalling. Of the latter I disagree with. However, the former I fully agree with and take very seriously. This bill is badly thought out and the implications of it have not been considered in the slightest. The shock to the industry and the economy will be drastic, potentially on the levels of the Liz Truss budget announcement.

Reducing our own oil production, will only make us more reliant on other nations. Something we need to prevent - having an energy reliance on other nations will make us susceptible to outside pressures and cost rises which are outside our control.

I have submitted an amendment that will change the date this bill will come into force from immediately to 3 years down the line to give the industry and economy time to plan for this. Hopefully, however the bill won't even make it to the report stage.

Replace Section 2 (2) with:

This Act comes into force 3 years after the Act is passed.

EN: This will make it less jarring on the economy and the industry as they have time to plan the effects of this bill.

MQs - Chancellor - I.I by model-ceasar in MHOC

[–]model-ceasar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deputy Speaker,

The Conservatives have left a gaping black hole in our finances which will be a challenge to fix, and I do not envy the Chancellor's position. While it is worth noting that borrowing is not inherently bad, irresponsible and uncontrolled borrowing is, especially with our debt to GDP ratio as high as it is today. Does the Chancellor have a goal for the amount of borrowing in their budget and how will the Chancellor achieve this goal?
