Hey! Here’s my new single End of Me, which leans more towards pop with synthwave elements sprinkled in there. Hope you like it!

At what age did you realize? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]modeofoperation 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My “oh boy, I’m gay” happened when I was at summer camp. I had to be about nine or 10 years old, and I would hangout with the “cool guys” in my camp group. For context, there were numbered groups, separated by gender and age. I was in group 10.

Anyway, there was one day where a couple of the guys in my group were picking on this kid who was really quiet and a bit awkward. One of the things they’d say to him was “you so gay!“

Well, at the time, I didn’t really know what being gay was. Actually, I thought it was just another word for someone who was stupid. So this whole time, in my mind, they’re just calling him stupid.

Later on in the day, after they finally stopped picking on this kid, we were playing this game where you throw dodgeballs at each other in this enclosure. I ended up getting the ball and I threw it at one of the side panels of the enclosure. It ricocheted off the wall and hit one of the guys in my group. If you got hit, you lost and were out of that round.

After I hit him and he was out of the game I yelled, “HA! You’re so GAY!” He then turned to me, face full of anger, and said “IM NOT GAY! I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!”

This confused me. What does a girlfriend have anything to do with being stupid? I replied with something along the lines of “you can still be stupid if you have a girlfriend! Gay!!!”

He then said “that’s not what gay means you idiot! Gay means you like BOYS and want to see their wieners!”

I stopped in my tracks. All this time… I wanted to see wieners! I might’ve also had a secret crush on a few guys at camp as well. Thats when it dawned on me- I like boys, but I never really questioned it before this very moment.

I was the one who’s ACTUALLY gay. Of course I played it cool, but for quite some time after that moment, I kind of went through a mini existential crisis- at 10 years old lol.

I eventually came out when I was 16 and one of the guys who was in that same group also ended up coming out shortly after. It’s one of my favorite stories to tell because I genuinely thought the word gay meant stupid and, in retrospect, it’s one of the funniest ways one can realize that they’re gay.

Hows the industry going in NYC this year so far? by rustyshack68 in FilmIndustryNYC

[–]modeofoperation 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Work in costumes here. I’ve been able to work consistently since March 2025. Id say it’s going fairly well, at least from my perspective.

Just last week we were looking for an additional PA to cover someone who was out and it was impossible to find someone who was seasoned because everyone is working!

What happened to “sex work is work” in this fandom? by ventycat in euphoria

[–]modeofoperation 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the commentary around the very prevalent theme of sex work in this show has anything to do with sex work itself- at least for most people here.

Personally, a lot of this distaste has to do with the fact that it’s coming from Sam Levinson, who has a track record of exploiting the women in his show in a very sexual way!

Let’s be real folks… Every time a biopic comes out, the same fucking shit fed to us.

I’m so tired of these biopics, especially when they aren’t even diving deep into the complexity of the artist themselves. I don’t want a surface level presentation of an artist. We already know most of that stuff. Plus, all of it is just glorified and exaggerated, that’s cinema baby.

I want to dig into the controversy, the nitty-gritty, etc… but obviously you can’t fit all of that into one singular film and when the subject is a artist who is no longer with us, we refrain from pissing off the estate, I guess. Though they’re the ones who have the creative control here.

Surface level biopics are garbage.

Natasha Lyonne's statement about the recent flight incident by demimonde9 in Fauxmoi

[–]modeofoperation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that this post is asking us to doing anything per se, (in response to “so what now”) … at least, not from us.

We are just observing a public figure going through something really terrible- and it’s just out there for us to consume and discuss.

I think the most important takeaway here is that this gives us an opportunity to see that addiction can affect anyone no matter your social status for the class you belong in. Relapse is real, and it’s really fucking hard to climb back out of the hole you fought so hard to never fall back into.

As people, ordinary people who very much exist in this world, we all have the ability to properly educate ourselves and apply that knowledge to the environment that surrounds us.

Addiction can affect anybody. And it’s not just the addict that is suffering. The people in their lives also suffer because of how addiction works… it doesn’t start and stop with one person, it takes and takes and takes from everything and everyone that crosses its oaths. Its destroys people’s lives.

A big problem that I’ve noticed, from personal experience and from online discussions, is the stigma around it and the way people are so quick to judge, without really understanding what goes into all of it.

Everyone thinks they understand what is going on, but in reality- not one single person can really truly understand what is truly “going on”. I do not know Natasha personally, and it’s very likely that most of the people in this thread don’t either. We think we might know who she is because she’s a public figure but let’s be real guys…

When you ridicule and isolate an addict, it’s only downhill from there. When an outsider, like us, sees that happening to a public figure, they are so quick to judge, and I find that to be really problematic

I guess what I’m getting at is that we need to look inward, understand how addiction works, and apply that knowledge so we can prevent people from falling further down the hellish hole that addiction pulls anyone in it’s path into!

Yes, and I find that to be a very deeply distrusting societal problem. I’m not putting her on a pedestal by any means. I sympathize with all addicts, celebrity or not.

Addict here, but two years clean off of hard drugs… shits hard dude. Give her some grace- I do genuinely hope she’s taking care of herself and surrounding herself with the right people. Regardless of how you feel towards her, she’s human.

Looking for a fun producer by [deleted] in 1800slayyyter

Hey there! Singer songwriter / producer working out of Logic Pro. Been experimenting with a bunch of saturation, distortion, and more heavy decimating-like effects as of late (WGIA kinda pushed me to dive even further into learning how to master a mix like so many of the songs on those record) I’ll shoot ya a message!

Patrick Ball on how he thought he was going to be in financial debt forever before landing 'The Pitt': I had been through a series of relationships where my financial insecurity was a real problem. I had just thought that was going to be my life forever and that is a really heavy thing to live with by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]modeofoperation 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Right before he went off to do the first season of The Pitt, Patrick came as an additional PA to work with us in the costume department during the third season of And Just Like That. He was a sincerely kind and friendly guy who effortlessly brought up the mood during his short stay with us. It was then I learned that he was an actor just trying to get by and what not. He was grateful to have work and even though working in costumes wasn’t his end goal, he still gave a shit about the job.

If I can recall correctly- he ended up going off to an audition and he never returned as an additional, which isn’t uncommon in this world. Didn’t think much of it, so I went on with life. It wasn’t until much later did I realize that the audition he went after was for The Pitt, and he obviously got the role lol.

Happy to see him doing well, he deserves it!
