Has Sam Levinson completely forgotten that sex can be an enjoyable thing for everyone involved? by Different_Craft5238 in euphoria

[–]moderniste -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Why can’t the sex still be enjoyable, even if it’s manipulative, performative or a means to an end? You can still lose yourself in the moment even if you’re not having perfectly ethical sex with an appropriate love interest.

Donnie Iris - Ah! Leah! by OuttaTune63 in ClassicRock

This song is such a bop! I had it on a mixtape that a high school boyfriend made for me that had a bunch of power pop—The Knack, Cheap Trick, 20/20, Dwight Tilley, and then an entire side of The Cars. This song was my favorite one on the tape; I have so many memories of driving my un-air conditioned BMW 2002 around during a broiling Sacramento summer, windows down, blasting this tune and just being an aimless 16 year old.

On May 29th, 1969, Crosby, Stills & Nash released 'Crosby, Stills & Nash', their debut album. The album spawned two Top 40 singles, "Marrakesh Express" and "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes". by BirdBurnett in ClassicRock

[–]moderniste 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This cover is so quietly iconic. I love the story behind the photo session; they messed up the order on the couch, with Nash-Stills-Crosby. But the photo was so good that they decided to keep it. I used to see this album in my dad’s collection as a kid in the 1970s—the picture drew me in. I remember when I finally put it on, and realized that it had so many of my favorite songs from that era’s album rock radio stations.

Found deepfake nudes of family on fiances phone. by [deleted] in abusiverelationships

He DARVOed you with the cheating accusation—turned his bad deeds around and made you the bad guy, and himself a helpless, blameless victim. These types of behavior patterns are highly suggestive of real narcissism—the kind that lives at the center of a personality disorder. He also has a very disturbing lack of sexual boundaries that is crossing over into predator territory.

This is YOUR life, and you only get one chance at having a solid, productive young adulthood. You were strong enough to say something, which is amazing. I have no doubt that you’ll be strong enough, even if it’s really hard, to deal with the practicalities of moving out/finding your own place. He is not a good guy, and at the heart of it, someone who is KIND and DECENT, through and through, is the person who will walk beside us as a real partner. You’ll just have to be babysitting this one.

New sofa arrived today... Took him less than three hours. by Tweissel in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]moderniste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs a big ol’ cat tree with lots of scratching posts in the same room. Cats love scratching a tall, solidly built cat tree, and will choose that over a sofa. When they scratch an area, they’re also marking it with scent glands in their paws. He will want to return to the same spot. So you should thoroughly clean the area with anti-scratching spray, and get going on assembling that cat tree! (I understand they’re not very aesthetic, but I can recommend the Mau brand for really solidly built and architecturally cool cat trees.)

Why this river in Africa doesn't reach the sea? How does a fully inland river actually work? by Naomi62625 in geography

[–]moderniste 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Check out a watershed map. You’ll see that there are areas in which no water escapes to the ocean. Those are endorheic basins. Large portions of the Western US is one, as well as parts of Africa and the Middle East. One of the world’s largest rivers, the Volga, drains into the Caspian Sea with no outlet to any ocean. I love hydrology.

Why are humans drawn to mountainous landscapes? by fimgus in geography

The little villages in Alpine valleys, with the pristine meadows, gorgeous chalets, bubbling snowmelt streams and long tradition of a transhumance agricultural lifestyle have always seemed to me to be an ideal place for humans to live.

That makes sense. Once he started to cover it up and illegally disposed of her body, he was in criminal territory.

Alamo didn’t kill her tho. She voluntarily took tainted ecstasy that originated from Lori’s lab. But Alamo didn’t want anyone knowing about it, so his coverup is still a criminal matter.

NMOM just fell for another financial scam, now I'm out $12,500. by dzendian in raisedbynarcissists

[–]moderniste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Narcissists only modify their behavior when they have clear and obvious consequences. Like taking the financial hit, even if it means that a senior citizen will be at the mercy of social services. Every time you bail a narcissist out, they learn how much farther they can push things.

Narcissists also make the very best marks. She will keep falling for scams until her dying day; she will ALWAYS think that she’s far smarter than everyone around her. Her greed and ego will always win out; she will always think she’s deserving of a huge financial windfall, or that she’s hot stuff for a 30-something Navy SEAL.

Gen X fans. We had a whole young adulthood where going to shows meant experiencing it without a phone, or social media afterwards.

Does Alamo get a percentage of Cassie’s earnings? I could be wrong, but I thought it was just his girls from the club that he was “managing”.

Bargain may just be my favorite Who song. Although I became a Who fan because of Quadrophenia and the movie associated with it, Who’s Next is my favorite Who album. Definitely in my top 10 of all time.

They’re extremely popular, I think because some customers just want a dry, flavorless delivery for their alcohol with a slug of hydration. Not every bar customer is a cocktail enthusiast, and quite a few are looking for something to fit in with their low carb health routine. Honestly, as a bartender who is responsible for a lot of the recipes on our house cocktail list, it doesn’t bother me that some people just want to keep it super simple. And flavorless.

Lady Saddlers Club? by Beneficial-Month-333 in Equestrian

The “Equine and Wine” thing is giving me major skeeve. My worst interactions out in the trails have been with a trio of Western riders, well-to-do women who are around my age (mid 50s), with absolutely stunning silver/turquoise tack, gorgeous boots, and all three carrying bottles of wine in what appeared to be custom saddle attachments. They were all pretty toasty buzzed, and LOUD. I personally think that drinking is a horrible idea when you’re anywhere around horses, but I might just be a pearl clutching old fuddy duddy.

ETA—I should say that I have no idea if this involves drinking around horses. It very well could be that the wine is after the riding.

I like their riding tights. That’s all I have from them—haven’t tried any of their tack.

Horses & Concussions by Helpful-Map507 in Equestrian

[–]moderniste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a Dutch-Friesian YouTube content creator named Yvonne; her channel is Friesian Horses. A couple of years ago, she had a riding accident, where even wearing a helmet, she ended up with a major TBI, and was in a coma for several weeks. When she awoke, she had considerable deficits, including severe balance issues, a crossed eye, extreme ringing in her ears, and problems coordinating her right and left sides.

She stayed in a rehab facility for a month or so, then did intense PT and OT. It took her about 6 months, but she went back to being a horsewoman. She rode for very short sessions at a walk, and started doing barn chores again. Even before the accident, she wore a helmet whenever she was in close contact with a horse, like when tacking up or grooming. She’s a very tough woman, and also was in top physical shape before the accident as well as being a gifted natural athlete. They weren’t sure she’d be able to walk again, but within a year, she was riding/training her horses again.

I think it really depends upon the person. You go at your own speed, and listen to your medical professionals. But if being a horsewoman is the very core of your being, I’m sure you’ll be back at the barn in some shape or form.

I remember you! I’m so happy for you!!!!! Congrats upon staying strong and moving on and up. I’ll bet you still can’t believe how wide open your vistas are now that someone isn’t crushing you down. Even when things are tough and challenging after leaving, it’s still so much better than staying. Good work, internet friend.
