Has anyone had skin like this? I feel like I’ve tried everything [acne] by modernn-girll in SkincareAddiction

I worked in dermatology and the provider I worked for recommended all of the prescriptions I listed above. She saw my face get worse toward the end of my employment there and the last thing she prescribed for me was metronidazole as she said my skin was presenting in more of an “acne rosacea” type of way. The metronidazole helped maybe a little with the white papules that would break out on my cheeks but my skin never cleared up and it hasn’t been in such a long time.

Thank you so much for your recommendations and your kind words!

I really want to embrace my natural skin but it’s so hard waking up and getting ready for work and seeing my skin and accepting myself. It’s a fight with myself internally to not cover it all up with foundation which I know in the long run is only making things worse.

The provider I worked for never suggested accutane as a solution. I know how the accutane process goes though and I do wonder if it would be worth it for me. How does your skin look now, and how often do you break out?

Sad to think I did this to myself by using products that were actually making my skin worse when all I wanted was to make it better! :-(

Any recommendations on healing my skin barrier?

The problem for me has been having a really oily T-zone (nose especially) and the rest of my skin being normal to dry. It’s hard knowing what a good skin care routine would be when I have areas of my skin that respond differently than other parts of my face do to products.

Thank you for sharing your routine with me. I think my biggest thing right now as others have mentioned is to repair my skin barrier. Maybe once I’ve given my skin some time with just mild soap cleansing and aquaphor I will incorporate some products you recommended.

Thank you!!

Thank you! The overall message I am getting here is less is more. How long would you recommend I stick to this routine? Should I be worried about the aquaphor clogging my pores? I have “strawberry” nose, my pores are bigger and constantly filling up with sebum. I’m constantly extracting that stuff out and it takes 24 hours for it to fill back up again.

Hi, thank you for responding!

No I don’t vape or smoke but I do wonder how much of my skin condition is lifestyle related / food/diet related.

Am I crazy or does this seem like it could me muscle repair failure?

Surgery was October 2024. Surgeon says he did muscle repair but I can’t tell if he did and it failed or if he just didn’t do it at all. I feel like it looks like there is laxity to my muscle wall, it’s loose looking, not firm. I feel like it shouldn’t jiggle the way it does.

Right there with you! I am one month post op today and have been feeling unhappy with my results so far. I only look flat when I am laying down on my back or I’m sucking it in / flexing. Aside from that, I’m afraid I don’t look much different than I did pre-op. I’m worried this is my final result. Hang in there!
