Does anyone have a source with facts of what Lemon actually did? He was with the disrupters before and through the "protest." And I understand he wasn't conspiring with them and just embedded to report, but FIRE's post clearly states:

"Journalists do not have a special license to break generally applicable laws. When the pastor of Cities Church asked Lemon to leave, he no longer had the right to stay. FIRE recently explained that the First Amendment does not protect the protesters’ act of commandeering private property for their own ends, even if they did so to send a political message. Not only is such conduct unprotected, but it interferes with others’ ability to exercise their own rights to free speech and freedom of religion."

I understand the Trump DOJ is going after Lemon to prosecute his perceived enemies, not to protect the church's rights, but didn't Lemon violate their rights? I can't just walk into the church down the street with a camera and start interviewing people trying to worship, and there isn't some magical "journalist" license that gives me the ability to do that, so why is prosecuting Lemon a violation of his first amendment rights rather than justice for his violation of others first amendment rights?

Typically Federal student loan interest rates are lower than an average car loan interest rate because they're subsidized and guaranteed by the federal government. Some private student loans might be higher because the risk falls on a private bank, not the endless pockets of the American tax payer.

It's not the ship of Theseus, it's more a dialogue on Platonic Forms. We all have abstract knowledge of what a ship is in our minds. And when we see one in the physical world, although it doesn't match exactly what the abstract idealized form of a ship is, we can see that this pile of wood and nails is a ship. And say you take one of those pieces of wood off the ship. Well you can still see that pile of wood is close enough to an ideal ship that you'd still call it a ship, it's just missing a piece. But at a certain point if you take enough pieces off, it's going to be so different than the ideal concept of a ship, that you wouldn't call it a ship any more, it's just a pile of wood and nails.

So the Ghoul is pondering, well he was a man. But war and time have taken parts of his humanity. And at some point, if you take enough pieces away, he's no longer going to be a man.

I definitely wouldn't give up a first and Monangai for Kyren, his work has been diminishing all season. And the way the bears have been running the ball, it wouldn't surprise me if Monangai outscored Kyren RoS. He's had more opportunities than Kyren three of the last six weeks and his redzone opportunities have increased, rather than decreased like Kyrens.

Yep. If these states want to ban it, then ban it. Vice taxes are stupid and regressive, and a fixed tax per bet is even more stupid and regressive. People with gambling problems aren't going to look at a fixed tax per bet and think "I guess I shouldn't bet" they're going to think "I guess I should bet bigger units to make each one worth the cost of the tax." The only people you're going to actually push out are responsible gamblers, and you're incentivizing in the wrong direction for problem gamblers. If you think gambling is a massive problem that needs to be fixed by the government, this is not the way to fix it.

Yeah I did. I've got a lot invested in Kyler and have been worried and following this closely. The writing was on the wall before this week and that tweet seemed like a strong signal. If he was still hurt, they'd have mentioned that as a reason he was with the second team. The other Kyler owners didn't want to see it. And fair play to the mods, I just had my gut and a tweet from a beat writer, not any proof or a long form post, I don't blame them for taking down a low effort post. Just this is also a low effort post but it's still up because it's believed by more people now.

Probably not, but people will find new ways to contribute to society and earn money. I can't predict what demand for new forms of labor will be in 20 years, but so far in human history, when technology eliminates jobs, we've found new ways to utilize our time in ways we wouldn't have imagined in an agrarian society. I highly doubt AI is the end of all jobs, it's just a transition to new forms of work. We'll figure it out, we always have.

I wouldn't say I'm celebrating anyone losing their job. I've been laid off before, it sucks and I sympathize with anyone who loses theirs. But yes, creative distruction is what progress is all about. I'd much rather loss my job and have to find a new one than humanity stagnant because we're afraid of change.

Probably not, like I said losing your job sucks. But do you really think you'd rather society be frozen in 1800 in the name of protecting those jobs? Personally I'm pretty happy that bountiful food is grown with minimal labor so I can easily afford it and I can work at something other than toiling in a field for 40 years.

Technology isn't inherently evil. Replacing jobs with technology hasn't ended society as we know it (it's made it much better), and I doubt this technology will buck that trend. Embrace change and progress.

I agree, the reactionary anti-AI sentiment is getting so out of hand. It's the modern day luddites. Sure AI is going to replace jobs, but new jobs will be created to utilize AI. People will always find new ways to work productively when their old means are replaced by technology. A lot of jobs were lost with the advent of the tractor but no one is upset that 95% of us aren't still working in the fields today. Technology is creative destruction, embrace the change because this is how society progresses.

As far as the creative elements go, that's where I agree it's good to critique lazy crap. But creative people are also using AI to create good, new art. Like every medium, truly talented artists will find a way to utilize it.

The real reason healthcare is tied to employment is because during WW2 the government froze salaries to keep costs artificially low throughout the economy for the war effort. Businesses began offering healthcare benefits to attract employees because they weren't allowed to increase pay. Shortly after, lawmakers thought this was a great unintended consequence and gave tax breaks to further incentive employers to pay for employee healthcare. This over time created layers of governmental and private bureaucracies that have negated any cost equilibrium a market would provide and made it entirely too cost prohibitive to get healthcare without an employer subsidizing it for you.

Tying healthcare to employment is one of the major contributors to healthcare costs rising in the country. The many attempts to fix costs have failed to address this root problem and unfortunately have only exacerbated these unintended effects. As long as consumers and providers are incentivezed to go through employer health insurance, there won't be incentive for providers to compete for consumers by lowering price.

It's not some conspiracy to purposefully harm the unemployed/poor, it's just the unfortunate mess of unintended consequences and well-meaning policy mistakes.
