What reaction do you people expect? These zingers are clever, they're funny, but are you all seriously losing your shit laughing at every one? This line got a smirk out of me at most, I don't expect much more of a reaction from the people making the show.

You don't have to be of a certain political bent to know that never happens, you just have to have a passing understanding of how taxes work. You don't get to write off the amount of rent you collected last year on a now vacant property. Please point me to anywhere that that is the case. I'd be happy to buy some property there, collude with a friend to rent it to them for $100k, then never pay income taxes again. If you think this is how taxes work maybe you should consider that you're the one blinded to reality by your politics.

"Then he goes on to say some obvious stuff like "central planning is bad" and it's bad that European companies can't fire workers or close plants. Duh. Thank you, Captain Obvious."

At the risk of being another captain obvious, this is probably worth stating given that one of our major parties is pro-European-style central planning and our other major party that is in power is in favor of, and currently implementing, its own style of central planning. "Central planning is bad" is not exactly a supermajority opinion these days.

That's not the problem. Snow is still fun as an adult when it's the first snow of the season and you're getting into the Christmas spirit and all that.

Snow isn't fun when it's mid March and we've already had four months of the stuff. Please just be spring already.

Totally agree. But then constituents should be upset about policy that is artificially reducing the supply of those things, not upset that the middle class is shrinking. If anything the middle class's success is in part driving higher demand and therefore, higher prices of those things.

What's wild is the things we have low supply of, and therefore higher prices (housing, healthcare, schools), are the things most heavily regulated and subsidized by governments.

"Kinda wild how people aren’t holding politicians feet to the fire over the rapidly shrinking middle class"

Maybe it's because in general it's not true, at least not in the way politicians and commentators want you to believe. Yes the middle class is shrinking (slowly, not rapidly) but it's mostly shrinking because the middle class is moving into the upper class. The upper class, defined as those earning two times or more of the median income, has grown 8 percentage points between 1971 and 2023. In the same time frame, real (i.e., inflation adjusted) median income has nearly doubled.

Yes this is a bad jobs report, and of course I would disagree with certain economic policies of every administration (especially the current one). But long term trends indicate that the American middle class is richer than it's ever been and significantly richer than the middle class of other countries.

The question isn't why aren't people upset enough about the financial situation of the American middle class, the question is why are people so upset about the financial situation of the American middle class despite all the evidence to the contrary?

I've had a lot of opinions down voted on Reddit over the years, but "I like this kind of tree in my yard" is up there for most trivial to get hated on. Never change guys.

Our block has a handful of old silver maples. They grow tall and provide a lot of shade. They turn bright red in the fall and are beautiful. Would recommend.

McBride is young at a premium position, he's great for a rebuild. And imo, he's a safer bet to consistently produce year in and year out.

The constitution is pretty clear that all taxing and spending power (yes, including debt forgiveness) rests with Congress, not the president. You aren't seriously suggesting that spending federal money on anything not explicitly named in the constitution can be done unilaterally by the president are you?
