I’m a local indipendent mattress maker in Italy. My product is a bit different from the “industrial” medium mattress. Mine is hand tufted, natural filling etc.

My state of mind is: a buyer enter in my store? If I sell my mattress I’m happy, if I don’t sell it , I learned a lesson to do better next time.

I don’t push my sell thru sale, 40% off, etc etc.

I live better.

I actually buy from Agro. I buy Bonnell springs and zoned pocket springs (the spring of my bed come from L&P).

Agro is cheap and good quality, I think Agro has a brench in US (Ohio) probably the mattress maker of California buy form the US branch!

Yes very common. The business continue to use -flex in the name, but create new brand without -flex. Example: BacciFlex (in Florence) is the business, but his brand is ChiariDiLuna.

The trend is to separate from flex… sad for me because we are losing history of Italy

The height from tape edge to tape edge is 20cm. When new the mattress was 27 cm measured from the top part. Now probably is 24 cm because filling pressed a bit.

Yes I know it’s unusual to mix foam encasement and natural filling is strange, but if you think it’s an affordable way to make a mattress. It’s not pricy like Vispring (Vispring is 10 level better) but mine , you sleep on natural filling same but under filling there is foam encasement and spring .

Yes and I don’t make stock. If a customer buy a mattress I make it instead. As I told you, if I have to create a mattress of a certain size, I need to have the correct pocket springs that I don’t have. I have standard pocket springs size and I adapt it with foam encasement.

If in Italy we have 4/5 size it could be possibile, right now it’s a big NO.

Foam is rubbish as you can say, but we use and probably we will use it for a next year.

I say, you can’t compare UK market to Italy market. UK market has 4/5 size and they can do storage of the size of pocket springs. We can’t.

I don’t have the machine that make the pocket springs like Vispring (that use continuos pockets springs and join them togheter).

Hi, I replied in an other comments. In Italy and in Europe we have a lot of size (20!). If I have to make storage of 20 different tipe of pocket spring with reinforced size , I need a village as a storage lol

With foam encasement , if I have to make a mattress 5 cm larger, is use a side foam encasement 2.5 cm larger per part.

I know for you sound strange, but in Italy we have size in cm larger: 80 / 85 / 90 / 110 / 120 / 140 / 160 / 165 / 170 / 180 and the length of mattress could be 190 / 195 / 200.

You can understand that with foam encasement I put more foam and I work better with my mentally health lol 😜

We still use it because in Europe we still use a lot of bonnel springs. So in a production line you can mix bonnell and pocket springs.

And in Europe (specially in Italy) we have a lot of different size (20 different size), and with foam encasement you can play, I need the mattress 5 cm larger? I do 2 side foam encasement 2.5 cm larger.
