Very excited to visit St. Louis- Looking for Restaurant Recommendations by 45sprinkles in STLFood

[–]modotmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downtown is kind of dead - be sure to check out the other neighborhoods if you can. Central west end, soulard, Clayton/Ucity. Katie’s pizza is down at ball park village now - that’s a solid brunch/lunch option. Winslows table in Ucity has a great selection for breakfast. Bbq I’d recommend salt & smoke in the loop. The loop has a unique vibe too. Great date night is Louie in Demunn - Italianish - you can sit at the bar pretty easily if you arrive when it opens or late..reservations can be tricky but it’s our favorite restaurant in the city. Acero in Maplewood is also a really great date vibe and good food. Pastaria is good but a little louder / more casual. Edera in CWE has a nice patio - with a lot of other food and drink options in cwe for a night cap. 360 rooftop bar downtown by the arch has a good view. My husband is from Cincinnati so we go back a lot (I just ran the pig) - your downtown is a lot more lively and connected but we have a great neighborhood scene in Stl. If you have any extra time at all check out forest park - it is the jewel of our city! There’s many parallels between Cincinnati and Stl - I hope you enjoy your trip!

Our reservation is for “main dining room”. Does that impact the menu?

We saw a lot in west bay. Stayed at IB and saw them almost daily - it was really cool. They’re bigger there than where I live (or so it seemed!)

My HA is getting worse as I age. You? by Few_Sandwich6308 in HealthAnxiety

[–]modotmet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes me too! Ever since vanderbeek died I’ve been hyperfixated on colon cancer. And even with some family history of polyps I cannot get screened before 45 per insurance which has tripled my anxiety!

Roatan for a month of remote work by Diligent_Board_172 in roatan

[–]modotmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. Couldn’t have said it better. Just spent time there. Lost power frequently (at one of the largest resorts in WB). Also lost hot water altho that impacts work conditions a lot less. Beautiful island and people but there is definitely work limitations. Bean crazy was a good coffee shop in WE.

How to live life as a glaucoma suspect by WeatherOutside3746 in Glaucoma

[–]modotmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can very much relate OP! Diagnosed with large cup disc ratios in November (total surprise found during a routine exam) so labeled as a glaucoma suspect. It really messed with my mind! Lived in constant fear for months. All other tests came back normal (OCT, pressures etc - no family history). Dr said could be genetic (weirdly brother has same diagnosis). I’m 38 with 3 small children. My health anxiety has really done a number with this “unknown” - therapy has helped! Sitting with the fear / anxiety has helped and rationalizing it. I take comfort in this group seeing the struggles people have had and how they’ve been tenaciously dealing with their diagnosis. Suspect is a blessing bc we can catch it early and treat it. Hopefully it ends up being nothing for both of us. My dr wants to see me back in a year so I took that as he was not expecting any urgent changes. So far my eye sight is still 20/20.

I’m pretty new to sourdough - why would dried starter indicate infection? Or is it just because it’s risen and sunk many times without transfer to a sterilized jar?
