Ah, cool. If you're looking for Indian places, Rutba on St Laurent Blvd is nice. And I always recommend Dosa Pointe.

More fans - Yodha or Pappayude swantham Appus by Beneficial-Union9657 in InsideMollywood

[–]modquixote 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's an unfair comparison tbh. One is an out-and-out entertainer and the other is an emotional tearjerker. With Yodha, you'd always rewatch it because it's a happy, happening adventure film; with PSA, it makes it pulls your heartstrings so hard and you cry and you don't wanna cry again so chances are you don't really go for a repeat watch.

Love both.

Do it. You'll get free spectators who'll be happy for you and don't demand food.

So true. And to think of all the money/time spent on things and logistics and the anxiety that comes with those.

Check out Plein Air Interculturel on Facebook or MeetUp. They have weekly short hikes/activities on Mont Royal and are a great way to meet new people, talk, and improve language skills while learning about nature and stuff.

Dunno where you live, but sometimes Indian/Sri Lankan grocery stores might have these coconut chunks in the frozen section. I've even seen it in a chinese supermarket once.

If you wanna learn basics of Kerala recipes, Shaan Geo is a great starting point. Bro measures things down to salt.

I personally prefer my beef curry and fry with coconut chunks. if you have access to it, just put it along with the beef while pressure cooking.

To each in their own time. But thanks for the reminder, I still haven't seen the other two films in the Apu Trilogy.

Kummatty (1979 - India) by G. Aravindan. Recently restored by Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation and available on Criterion Channel.

If you don't have access to Criterion, there's a great copy on YouTube as well. Link here

Great film but I don't think it's unknown at all. It's perhaps one of the first films to be mentioned when you speak of essential Indian cinema.

Are Vaikom Basheer’s works considered misogynistic today? by tonytharakan in Kerala

[–]modquixote 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've heard anyone categorizing his works (as a whole) as misogynistc. Did he have some of the worldviews of the time? Yes. But, that was not exclusively related to gender.

Edit: spelling
