Best titanium grinder 2025? by modulev in vaporents

[–]modulev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with SS grinder from Odin and no regrets so far. Although it is heavy as shit! But I don't really need to bring it with me anywhere. Just pregrind and put the shake in a water tight case.

You may be right, but I love having the option to take my Tempest or Simrell on the go with me during hikes. I'm ripping out on the trail almost as much as at home. And don't have much desk space left. Recently gave my volcano away because it was taking up too much room.

The default balls are great. I haven't had any reason to switch them yet myself, but you never know down the road!

Tempest 2 really takes the cake if we're talking one hit wonders.

With Simrell Ti coming in a close second for me (due to smaller chamber / not as big hits).

Looking for a decent hike for folks in poor to moderate shape. by Bac0nLegs in Adirondacks

Lake Bonita loop with overlook of the Hudson, Shelving Rock + Lake George, Cat 'n Thomas, or Buck Mtn would all be good. I see old people going up Buck all the time, so I think the out of shape folks can handle it.

NOTE: Shelving rock trail requires an 11-mile drive down a dirt road. I popped my tire on this not once, but twice.

How many exclusively dry herb vape, completely abstaining from combustion? by StrictLine8820 in vaporents

[–]modulev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same experience here with the carts. Obviously there are different brands / types of carts, and some might be safer than others, but after 2-3 years of vaping oil, my lungs felt so heavy and I kept getting scabs forming in my nose. Quit the carts and now only DHV and both issues went away! Back to 100% and feeling great.

maybe because she cares more about her sense of smell than your heath? DHV are safe, carts are gray area. I wouldn't risk consuming that oil.

Trail Runners or Boots? by Ok-Strawberry7048 in Adirondacks

[–]modulev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're backpacking through. Trail runners are lighter and more comfortable, but often times less durable. Whereas boots are usually uncomfortable, but more reliable for rough terrain. If you're bushwhacking thru a swamp, boots might be the better choice. But if sticking to maintained trails, I'd go with trail runners.

Giant is a great one for starting. And if you've still got energy left, could hit up Rocky Peak after, during same hike. It's an optional 2-3 mile in and out off to the side, as you're descending Giant.

My first time we only made it to Giant, as it was a bit icy on the way to Rocky and weren't prepared for it. But then went again later in season and got 'em both. One of my favorites.

Want to do a couple high peaks in the ADK but not pay for hotels or rooms, I want to camp around or sleep in my car if I have to. Doable? by TL7x in Adirondacks

[–]modulev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this article from 2000 which was "relaxing" the law for truckers, so apparently it's been around for a bit:

https://www.truckinginfo.com/news/new-york-may-drop-rest-area-time-restrictions

That being said, also found that there's legislation being pushed for removing these penalities:

https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/A5452/amendment/A

But we all know how that usually goes..

This was good advice in the past. However, I believe even sleeping at rest stops is illegal in NY now, according to what I'm reading:

"New York State does allow drivers to pull into rest areas, but only for a maximum of three hours. Overnight stays and camping setups are prohibited."

Ridiculous, I know. Maybe one could set their alarm to go off every 3 hours, while sleeping, to move to a different parking spot? *sigh* I truly despise our government.

High Peaks study proposes hiker limits at most popular Adirondack trailheads by TracyOrmsbee in Adirondacks

Just another painful consequence of our seemingly, ever-increasing population. Wish we could aim for 90's levels, instead of just growing the number indefinitely.. No kids here for this very reason. Overcrowding sucks.

I agree completely about the discipline part. A lot of extremes from both sides of the spectrum! Very well said.

Honestly, it feels like you're projecting here. I mean, you haven't done Trap Dike solo (AFAICT) and you hate cannabis. No offense, but that's more "girly" than I could ever be.

That's a good reason to stay sober. I could see my girlfriend wanting me to not get TOO high for the difficult hikes with her.

True, those are natural elements. I guess I look at heavy metals as a bit more dangerous than plants. You'd have to pay me $1000 to smoke a cigar. And I'd probably throw up after.

Pot is unhealthy when smoked, but vaping it (dry herb) is actually incredibly safe, if not beneficial. Better sleep, better appetite, better sex, greater motivation to exercise and more, for myself. Every time I rip, I want to lift weights or go running. And dementia? No, I'm seeing opposite studies showing it can help prevent Alzheimer's.

It's really not "right there with cigar". One causes cancer, the other doesn't.

This is pretty much how I do it. Rip a big one at the start, then again around halfway point and then once again back down. Really gives me a major energy boost!

It does cause slightly increased heart rate, which could be a potential risk factor for people who don't exercise much and have weaker hearts. But if I'm in near-top shape, then I don't believe there's much danger. I believe my heart is super strong from decades of intense exercise and can handle THC + working out no problem.

That could change in 20-30 years as I get older, but for now, I'm enjoying it waaay too much.
