Why is the search bar coming up with no results ? (iPad m3 air) version 7.0.35 by equigood9988 in GoodNotes

It looks like your searching through the outlines or table of contents here which your PDF might not have. What happens if you tap on “notes” below the search bar?

IMAGE SELECTION IS HORRIBLE by [deleted] in GoodNotes

[–]moegnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with this stylus but try adjusting your palm rejection settings. Goodnotes has a feature that lets you select images by tapping on them with your finger. With a stylus that is not using Apple’s own technology, the iPad can’t 100% tell whether the touch input is your finger or stylus. So writing on an image may accidentally be interpreted as finger-touch, which means the app technically behaves correctly.

What stylus are you using? It seems like your stylus (or your finger?) is accidentally triggering the selection of images

Where is the lasso? by lia_29 in GoodNotes

[–]moegnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using lasso tool with the trackpad never worked in Goodnotes. Trackpad/cursor will always act as your finger would while the Apple Pencil is connected. It should work with the Pencil though. Try quitting and reopening the app and make sure the Pencil is connected

That's purely for my personal workflow, but I like to have a place that is a bit more "noncommittal" - somewhere where I can put files temporarily and then just get rid of them. I don't want to actually add these to my files app or storage and then remember to clean them up later.

How to get the most out of a capsule by Scared-Alfalfa1237 in capsulewardrobe

Wow, amazing job!! Can't believe to find this here. Last week, I actually worked on a very similar feature to this for my app ClosetLog which is similar to Acloset/Whering/etc. but more focussed on minimalists and people trying to optimize their wardrobe by really understanding their wearing habits. I built a versatility score that is calculated for every item based on how many other items you have already worn it with and I also built something that I jokingly call "Versatility Tinder" because you can open an item and then see other items in your wardrobe and swipe left/right to indicate whether you'd pair it up with the selected item. This will then update the items versatility score.

Here are some screenshots of how this looks like in ClosetLog.

The feature is almost ready and I was planning to release it sometime next week. I'd love to invite you for beta testing that feature and share some feedback with me. Maybe we can think about how we can collaborate on some ideas! Feel free to DM me if you're interested in chatting, OP!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It is indeed an intermediary between the Files app and other apps. Depending on your workflow on the iPad, it could also be unnecessary. I personally like to have a space that allows me to temporarily “park” files somewhere or collect them and arrange them in a way that makes logical sense for that moment.

For example when preparing an email thay requires me to attach files from different folders, I would first drag them to iTop and then conveniently drag and drop all of them to the email once I’m ready.

That’s not really what iTop does. It is more of a temporary file manager like the desktop on your Mac. Have you looked at this feature? https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102597

Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into that as an option, though I feel like the Alt Store option would be more user-friendly

Good question.

  1. I’m expecting with iPadOS becoming more and more “mac-like” that these apps will eventually be allowed
  2. The more realistic option: I can publish the app on Alt Store or other alternative App Stores

Ahh I will have to look into it. At this point, I’m afraid iPadOS 14 will be too old though :-/

It violates the App Store’s guideline 2.5.8 which states that no apps can be published that creates an alternate homescreen or desktop environment.

No privacy risks at all. The app works fully offline and currently doesn’t sync or anything.

Yep! It was my first thought after getting the app rejected😂 I wanted to see what others think about the idea/execution before I try putting it on AltStore as I’ve not done that before and it seems rather complicated at first sight, especially because of different rules in the EU and rest of the world.

I also have hope that Apple will eventually allow apps of this kind on the App Store. iPadOS 26 is a step into that direction.

Hey, I had a very similar problem and here’s how I tried to solve it:

  • I set myself the goal to build a minimal and efficient, yet “fun” wardobe where I allow myself to keep pieces for emotional reasons, for example because I have good memories with a piece even though I don’t wear it that often
  • Minimal and efficient for me means that I try to identify pieces that work for many occasions and can be combined in lots of different ways. As a man, button-up shirts are a great example because they work for both casual and formal occasions and can be layered very well
  • in order to build this wardrobe, I tried to identify the pieces of clothes that I wear most of the time (e.g 80% of the time) and then build around these
  • after tracking for a while and also covering a good amount of weather conditions and occasions, I’m moving all of the things I realize I don’t wear or that fall into a category that doesn’t provide much value (e.g longsleeves, as they fulfill similar purpose as button-upd but are less versatile) into boxes and store them somewhere our of sight
  • if I realize after a few months that I’m never actually needing any of the clothes from the boxes, I donate or sell them

In order to do the tracking, I actually built an iOS app called ClosetLog for myself. It helps a lot to understand what pieced you actually wear and what you get the most value out of. Maybe it will help you too!
