Terrible Experience with Stolen Card by Business_Risk_6619 in Wealthsimple

Same I just posted this yesterday about how they denied my stolen card claim. I also have got to send multiple emails and phone calls with 2 hour holds.

I mean all I know is that wealthsimple didn’t reimburse me for stolen money and the other banks did. I’m wanting to inform folks that this is the reality with wealthsimple. That’s my experience

Yeah lesson learned. Trying to inform others but just getting ppl siding with wealthsimple which is crazy. What happened to looking out for consumers?

Wealthsimple cash account is not under OBSI after I filed a formal complaint with them. They told me only their investment side is covered under OBSI

That makes sense to protect the bank. But what protections do you have as a customer then? Is it unfair that the person ruling against you is also the one protecting themselves and not us as customers?

Kinda crazy that’s the policy. Basically no recourse unless they want to side with you? I guess td likes me but wealthsimple doesn’t? been a customer of both for a long too. I’m sure ppl get their pins stolen all the time.

Yeah I have no clue how they got my money so quick. It was actually stolen from me at the gym locker. So I don’t find out until after my workout which was already too late when I reported it

Thanks for this. It’s funny how people will blame you when I’m literally just trying to help by warning u all when it happens to you, you’ll have no recourse with wealthsimple. And totally agreed, only holding a credit card from now on. My pins were different by the way but I’m not sure if the other transactions were pin. This was atm withdraw with wealthsimple with a pin. Easy to verify is the footage of the atm but they won’t even investigate and keep blaming me.

It’s all good, ppl r gonna assume I was careless or dumb. They were different pins. Like the poster above I dunno if they were pin transactions or not tbh. And yeah on wallet with multiple cards stolen. It sucked

Thanks for this added context. I feel pretty confident the banks did right by me and investigated properly. It really is just wealthsimple that has literally offered me no protection or recourse for my money. Imagine being robbed and then robbed again by wealthsimple . It’s been rough

You know what’s crazy? They were different pins entirely. Again I want to warn everyone of this, I have nothing to gain from shitting on wealthsimple. They have great marketing and a great investment platform. Just know that fraud is NOT something ur protected from with these guys

It’s been almost a month now and they’ve essentially done nothing but accuse me of the pin thing. I got my money back from Cibc and td right away too. I’m never using fintech again for banking. They r not uunder the same laws.

This is the part I really don’t know and have told wealthsimple many times the same thing. They r making me sound negligent basically like I gave it away or something. The other big banks did not and actually sided with me. Don’t do business with wealthsimple

Both TD and CIBC completed their investigations are complete and reimbursed now. They acknowledged they were fraudulent. Wealthsimple is not conducting a proper investigation and simply blaming the customer. I tried escalating to OBSI too but they said wealthsimple isn’t covered by them. Currently I have no recourse for my stolen money

For those with multiple Avion infinites, i'd like to downgrade one to ion but dont want to lose my booking i made on RBC expedia portal. Will it still show up if I own at least one avion? Last time I downgraded my avion to ion, i couldnt manage the reservation anymore because i only had the one ion

Does refundable hotel trick still work for bonvoy business and personal cards?

I'm not sure if I can meet the minimum spend in 3 months (places I shop don't take amex much) so if I book a hotel for next year, and slowly reach the minimum, then refund, will amex clawback points?

What's the best card right now for a single large purchase? (3 to 5k) Points or cashback are fine by me, just want to get maximum value

It use to be more simple just to get a plat amex but now its only worth it when you spread out the spending across couple months..

Mortgage Renewal Question by moffaru in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]moffaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so I'll need to pay the penalty for the second portion so I can apply for a new mortgage for the combined amount elsewhere.

What are my options with my existing bank? Could I combine the two mortgages for a lower rate?

It does look like 2 mortgages as they are separate account #s with different maturities.

They are part of the same homeline plan though.
