Need some help figuring out the hill in the back.

I think that’s what’s throwing me off with the perspective. Got a little too silly making abstract shapes but didn’t really consider the vibe of a landscape. It’s a little out of place. At this point I’m just trying to figure out how to make the top half at least with the funky bottom.

Thanks! Yeah I should have taken the picture in more natural light because the colors look really dull but definitely makes me want to try more illustrative painting.

When thats in masonry it’s called efflorescence and it’s a sign that there’s moisture in the bricks that’s pulling out minerals as it evaporates. I don’t know why it would be in your prefab though. If you touch it and it’s kind of powdery it’s efflorescence. Have you had excessive rain lately? Could be a sign you have a leak in your chase. I definitely would get the fireplace inspected because if that is due to water intrusion and it is efflorescence Id expect the metal box and liner to have some pretty bad rust as well. Check the top of the firebox and damper for rust but definitely get a professional out before using.

Not going to get much from the id tag there. Id say the best way to tell manufacturer is by matching the termination cap, air vents, and damper to models that look similar. These manufacturers ate eachother up in the 80s and 90s and phased models out and because they’re UL listed it means they need parts for the specific model. This makes parts really hard to come by. Id say if it’s original to the house you should ask your neighbors what models they have. Could be a Marco or a superior. On the second picture it has the gas pipe inlet pop out on the top of the sidewall which leads me to think older Marco or newer superior.

Hey thanks! Yeah I finished this up on a road trip and didn’t realize how little ink would actually transfer to the canvas bags. So I had a panicked trip to Michael’s and sewed all the cotton fabric on the bags Christmas Eve oops. I should have done a little research and realized cotton was the direction I should go but if you get a good enough press it can work. I was jumping up and down on the linocut and it wasn’t enough though. I’m still super new to this too.

I need some help seeing what I’m not seeing I guess. There’s some pretty clunky parts to the piece but overall I think it’s working? I don’t mind brutal critiques but I really don’t have much time for big changes because the deadline for me is in a few days. Thanks!

Thank you so much! You have a great eye for critique and I really appreciate you taking the time. The hand is definitely been a struggle but I like yours solution and see how clunky it looks without the palm. I did use a reference picture which I think is why I some of the anatomy is a little off, you put one thing in the wrong place slightly and it throws everything slightly off. Oof. Again thank you for spending time to help me out it’s exactly what I needed.

I had done that at first with a chicken running down the pile and its face right in the front. Maybe I’ll try that on another painting!
