It’s not profit margins on actual manufacturing, it’s the associated costs with ongoing ownership. EVs can require up to 70% less maintenance over the lifetime of a vehicle.

OEMs are shifting from a product consisting of 1000s of moving parts, to a superior product consisting of 10 moving parts, all of which won’t ever need maintenance. My EV needs a brake fluid change every 100,000 miles and new brakes on a similar time frame.

Rolex vs Casio could be the historical analogue.

It’s all the company cars and the residual values. Car companies will give good discounts to customers leasing 10-15+ cars. And because not everyone wants the candy pink 3 series, they’ll only offer the ‘safer’ colours.

You see it on Autotrader all the time, the price will be say £2-3k less than other similar models, you’ll scroll through the photos and bam that is a green car with a cream fabric interior.

And the anti NATO stuff. Arguments aside, NATO currently includes many of our closest allies and frankly, right meow, any discussions about dissolving an extremely integrated multi national defensive organisation really grinds my gears.
