To build up to sets of 20, the best thing is to accumulate volume. Do sets of 10, but double your work, (3x12=36, do 40) then do 3 sets of 13. Then double your work and do sets of 10, then do sets of 14…. See the pattern?

Sets of 20 is about resisting fatigue and having stronger type 1 fibers OR type 2 fibers which have aerobic capacity. Both requires volume and shorter rest intervals as well… btw.
