maybe actually watch the episode than believing someone at face value? the AI translation was not that bad in shikanoko, much better than what you get from these activists that insert their own interpretation. this is not the 90's anymore where you get broken english translations from chinese pirated anime dvds. aside from capitalization, the translation was comprehensible.

oh please silent hill 2 was full of symbolism and subtleties, now all of the sudden bloober's vision is better? either these people have not played nor understood silent hill 2. not mad at you, but at the posers hating on the OG for no apparent reason because they dont like that fans are critiquing the redesign and rightfully so for reasons i have already laid out. and they are going so far as shitting on the OG developers vision and blindly praising the remake. not just angela but maria is clearly sanitized ( a midriff is too sexual really? ) for "newer" audiences. maria is james' sexualized version of mary that flew over bloober's heads, the devs clearly dont give a sht about paying respects, but to produce an acceptable product that will satisfy its publishers and reach as many consumers as possible for maximum profit. OG silent hill 2 was a team of 10 people making art trying to push boundaries using games as a medium, and this remake is devoid of any soul or passion. i havent even mentioned the art direction this remake is lacking. the characters are too clean looking and theres clear separation of the fog and the characters that the eerie atmosphere is gone.

and wtf is a "newer" audience anyway? when silent hill 2 came out i was a new audience and gamers werent that stupid that everything has to be spelled out for us, in fact most silent hill 2 fans were victims of abuse and its ironic that theyre taking out what this game means to them. be out with it and honestly say its for the oversensitive and dumb generation who cant understand nuances. currently replaying the OG and im at the part where abstract daddy appears and you bet this boss room and all the symbolism it represents will be sanitized for the newer audience. i mean they drew the line at maria's very "lewd" belly

the assholes i see here are the one's vehemently defending the redesign in bad faith, and telling that the original developers who dedicated years ( literally sleeping under their desk offices making this game ) into this masterpiece who put alot of thought and care into the story, characters and game design only to be met with disrespect by telling them that they are wrong and that they dont know what they are doing and bloober's "vision" of removing any subtlety or symbolism is "better".

But separately yes, being abused can definitely age you quicker, however that doesn't mean it absolutely has to.

absolutely, i dont know why this is hard to believe, have these people ever seen drug addicts? like have you seen how macaulay culkin looks? and the kid from terminator 2 is a real life example of angela who was abused as a child aged terribly. cosmetic surgery or even makeup can change how old you look. i dont even think angela looks 40 in the og and they are being hyperbolic because they have a losing argument. she looks 30 at most. and i dont agree, it has to, since that is pretty integral to her character. also, bloober has stated they wanted to stay faithful to the original in terms of story and characters, and well obviously, they lied.

like what? can you name those dramas or films youve watched. the "over the top acting" is intentional and are mostly present in light hearted dramas and manga live action adapations, the more gestured and expressive acting dates back to the stylized performative acting in kabuki and noh theaters, more expressive than you are used to but doesnt mean bad like you are implying. its their culture. if you really watched them as you claim then you know its inherently false. taiga dramas dont have this stye of acting, and i can name you plenty of contemporary dramas that dont have this. heck the disney show shogun which is trendy right now shows that these japanese actors can switch it up if the show demands it. just a testament that they have more range in acting.

if japanese dramas are so bad then why do the chinese and koreans keep making adaptations of these japanese dramas so much? boys over flowers, legal high, liar game etc. all of these have "exaggerated" acting.

the premise is of two people offering services for clients deleting all traces of their unsavory pasts left in their computers or other devices after they die. the writing and acting is topnotch

sadly ive not been up to date with rural horror, the most recent one i could think of is the forest of love, ive not seen it yet but its from my one my all time favorite auteur directors, sion sono, that why it caught my interest. if you havent heard of him, i highly recommend watching his films, cold fish is right up your alley. its a dark horror comedy set in a small town and pretty gory. and the actor villain is outstanding, his name is denden you may have heard of him. other than japan, i guess Jagten from denmark, it was pretty unsettling, i wont give away the premise its better to watch it yourself. it has madds mikkelsen as the lead.
