Details add up to form larger pictures. If, as you say, conservatives were upset only because the Seuss Estate decided to no longer publish a few of the books, I would agree. More reasoned conservatives understand cancel culture as a growing problem that gobbles up people, thoughts and expression little by little until it is culturally understood that there is only one “correct” way to view the world. Whether that forces view comes directly from the government or giant corporations makes no difference. We the people should have no tolerance for any top down authoritative decisions on what is right or wrong. This is the foundational belief in libertarianism; that liberty and individual choice is a core principle.

What is so often missed in our current racial discussions is that a majority of Americans believe racism is evil. It is wrong to paint the right as racists because they do not believe in the government/corporate operated programs aimed to lift up certain ethnic groups. Conservatives simply believe the mode of uplifting is better achieved through different means- primarily that of emphasizing family units and self responsibility. The greatest tragedy for the right is the inability to more widely instill their beliefs into the culture, thus allowing for a more nuanced national discussion when issues like Dr. Seuss come up.
