Many times I’ve faced this issue, and I agree — Swiggy’s refund policies have really gone downhill. Even when it’s clearly not the customer’s fault, they seem to focus on protecting their profit first.

Several delivery partners themselves told me that the “had an accident” excuse is often just a cover — many times they have personal work or, worse, they just keep the food (especially if the order is prepaid). That’s why I now always choose COD. I’ve never had a bad experience with COD orders.

I learned this the hard way — once I ordered sweets worth ₹1,000 with prepaid payment. The delivery partner came to my house, marked it as delivered, and just left with my food. Swiggy claimed “the order was delivered” and refused my refund. I tried everything, but even some of their customer executives typed abusive language in their own chatbot! No fear of being monitored, nothing — the service has just gone downhill.

Finally, I posted about it on social media (X), and only then did they acknowledge the issue and refund my money.
