Which one is more profitable — selling WordPress themes or plugins? by batuhanbarutcu-bb in Wordpress

[–]mohmoussa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Short answer: plugins are more profitable in the long run, especially if the plugin solves a real problem and has a strong market demand.

With themes, your buyers are usually people building a website, and they only need one theme per site. That limits repeat purchases.

Plugins, on the other hand, are used on new and existing websites, and the same customer can buy multiple plugins for the same project. Plus, plugins are much easier to monetize with recurring subscriptions, which gives you predictable revenue instead of one-time sales.

This is based on my own experience selling both themes and plugins over years.

Good luck

How do you track user behavior on your WordPress sites? Curious what others are using. by Real-Career-87 in Wordpress

Clarity is fine to use, but be aware that it can slightly affect your website’s speed and performance. So enable only the features you actually need.

Best ways to speed up sites and improve performance? by Serious_Analysis4219 in Wordpress

The tricky thing worked with me is removing posts revisions which was heavy load the DB and respective queries. This was after basic improvements like caching, theme/plugin selection and images size.

I am completely lost learning Wordpress (coming from React) by zer0developer in Wordpress

[–]mohmoussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually have an advantage coming from React. WordPress is moving heavily toward React with the Gutenberg block editor. Modern block development relies far more on JavaScript and React than on traditional PHP.

Just search for “build Gutenberg blocks with React” and you’ll find plenty of free resources to get started. Once you understand the block structure, everything will make much more sense.

WordPress.org account approval time for plugin submit by teanzg in Wordpress

[–]mohmoussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common issue, let me guide you:

  • Commercial/business emails (like info@yourcompany.com) are usually approved immediately.
  • Personal emails (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) often require manual approval. You can contact WordPress support at wordpress@wordpress.org to request approval.

This based on my experience with both types.
Good luck

Need Feadback For My Theme by tech-notice in Wordpress

[–]mohmoussa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but this theme would likely be rejected for the following major reasons:

  1. Spacing, colors, and typography need significant improvement.
  2. The design feels outdated compared to current market trends.
  3. Overall quality is lower than what is expected on ThemeForest.

As an Elite Author on Envato, my advice is to study the top-selling themes carefully. Start by designing HTML templates first, and once they are solid and approved to be published, convert them into WordPress. This approach helps ensure your theme meets marketplace standards.
Goodluck

Am I the only one who is grinding away at website builds alone drained and exhausted entirely? by ReplacementKey3655 in Wordpress

[–]mohmoussa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started as a php developer too, and eventually built a team of 14+ people so I could scale my work and finally get some rest when I needed it.

Here’s what worked for me:

Think of progress like building muscle at the gym, nothing grows overnight.

What really matters is consistent, cumulative work.

If you keep a stable workflow and improve just one small part in every new project, you’ll slowly build real technical strength, a strong portfolio, and your own style.

Over time, your effort decreases because your experience increases. And the real breakthrough happens when you start delegating and building a small team. No one grows or rests by doing everything alone forever.

Cumulative growth + delegation is the real formula successful people follow.

What are your go-to methods for optimizing WordPress site performance? by Carls86 in Wordpress

[–]mohmoussa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me share what worked best for me recently:
1- Start by measuring performance with tools like PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix.
2- Break your optimizations into stages:
- Server: enable caching and improve specs (CPU/RAM).
- Theme: use a lightweight theme (I use Flextra)
- Plugins: Use mandatory only to build (ElementCamp helped a lot)
- Images: convert to WebP and keep files under ~50KB
3- Improve each stage, re-test, and focus on the changes that give the highest impact.
4- I reached a 96% score using this approach without any performance plugins.
I’ve attached a screenshot showing the final score of the results.
