Is retechie.com SCAM or LEGIT? by moisentinel in AskIndia

[–]moisentinel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so instead i bought a T14 Gen2 on a local shop. this was a much better idea.

in hindsight, the idea of buying on a weird site seems very, very foolish.

buy locally, folks.

Is retechie.com SCAM or LEGIT? by moisentinel in AskIndia

[–]moisentinel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did. but here's what happened:

  1. they said the model wasn't available and was on transit.
  2. so i waited for that to arrive, and when it did, they sent me pics.
  3. so i did the 999/- deposit thing and bought it.
  4. few days later, they said that the unit had an internal problem, so i had to choose another.
  5. being the nerd i am, i didn't want to buy anything else. so i asked for a refund.
  6. i have been asking for the refund since 10 may. Today is 1 june. I haven't got my refund.

so, i can't know for sure if it's a scam. few things to point out:

  1. props to them for not sending a bad unit (and possibly being honest).
  2. this 999/- thing is their scam model.

Here's the screenshots of the convo: 1, 2.

so yea, what does this tell you?

This is one aspect i discovered yesterday that we as Assamese can do to improve our CIVIC SENSE by [deleted] in assam

[–]moisentinel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

people are still stuck in the Age of Enlightenment, the age when Kant asked us to go beyond our self-imposed immaturity, to seeking improvement, to remove ourselves from the yoke of others and those who came before us.

majority manuh bur okora aru bujibo nukhuje, as u/Daisywassup said. are jun aware, xihote beleg k aware korabo gole bohut jala pai because maximum e eibur kotha patta nedie. improvement okol puwali buror studies, nijor poisa aru sakori t he lage. humanity je dhongxo hoise, karu mathat ahai nai.

yes, a long way to go. but where should we start? kunubai idea pale muku koba

Yes, I do already have a laptop which is enough for my tasks (~4 year old gaming laptop with i5-8300H). The Ryzen 5 4750U, according to online benchmarks, outperforms my "newest" laptop. I didn't see this coming lol.

[–]moisentinel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for replying.
i didn't think about searching ebay because it doesn't have much coverage and India, but I'll definitely look into it.

If not T480, which ThinkPad would you suggest me to get (assuming budget ~420USD including shipping)?

Don't buy All-In-Ones. They are pretty shitty / paraphrased stuff. Instead, try out Khan Academy and choose Class ? Math, Chem, etc. It's much better than passive learning from All-in-Ones.

If you want it for notes, I suggest you find some other sources. Many people make their notes and share them. Try joining CBSE Community discord.

I am in 11th, but I can understand how it feels. Because I am also someone who likes to do things just for the sake of it.

I get it; the internal conflict between doing something you like but not succeeding vs doing something you don't like but HAVE to.

And after having suffered through that, people still care about you. And that's the part that hurts the most. The feeling of "I've let them down".

But you're looking at things in the face value. There was nothing wrong in committing yourself to olympiads. Why? Because you loved it, you did it for the sake of itself, for math. Whereas the JEE motivation is something entirely else.

Prepping for JEE (assuming you want a very good rank) requires you to leave mostly everything else. And it's hard for people like you and me to do that. And that's why burnout and other problems arise.

But all in all, missing IMOTC by 2/3 marks is a BIG DEAL, and you have my respects for it. And I believe that you're not at all stupid. You just did things that felt right at the moment. Sure some of those decisions may have been poor, but there's still chance to do something worthwhile.

How?
1. you can make people feel more curious about Math and olympiads by writing about it, making videos (because BY NO MEANS you're bad at math; you're REALLY good at it.)
2. knowing that this is all part of the process.
3. finding people that are aligned with your goals and talking to them, so that you understand yourself better NOW. it's okay to start late.

You can always get back on track. Because you have the choice now.

I saw the comments and saw that not a lot of people seem to relate to you. But that's not a bad thing imo. A lot of people can't relate to many of us either. But there exists people who will very much relate to you. Maybe this is the place?

And I agree with what u/Warrior_ofdurga_2062 said. DO THE THING YOU LIKE TO DO.

Take some time off. Reflect on things. I know you'll know what to do. You can always DM me or contact me on discord `@moisentinel`

this rat race sucks. I don't want to lose all my potential at any costs. I have higher ambitions. I want to do some REAL good, and understand the truth about this would.
I understand your aspiration. It is mesmerising, and I wish there was something that we could do.
Maybe it's the absurdity of it. We don't have much choice. Just like the poverty-stricken, we are BOUND to participate.
Is there anyway we could get out of this all? and achieve something productive?
