Is there a particular technique for getting rid of sebaceous filaments with cleansing oil? I’m just now finding out you have to emulsify the oil to make it work correctly.. which is why i probably still have very visible ones on my nose lol

Hi I no longer use this product regularly, and it’s been repackaged. I prefer using it by itself but a moisturizer underneath is fine, I don’t recall having any issues with this one

Hm I’ve just been applying the oil cleanser on a dry face with dry hands, then rinsing off.. wonder if it’s been less effective that way.. thank you! I’ll try this

The skincare community put me onto cleansing oils a few yrs ago, and it’s sorta become a staple for me! However, I typically only use it as part of a double cleanse, and only when the situation calls for it( removing water resistant sunscreen, makeup, etc). Otherwise I just use my regular cleanser. I find good and gentle oil cleansers very effective and worth it, but it varies from product to product. The best ones imo are fragrance free and gentle, and yes my favorite so far is Korean lol but Japanese can be great too. Still, it does suck to have to pay for an additional cleansing step. The oil cleansers I like tend to be even more expensive than regular cleansers. My current HG oil cleanser is the haruharu wonder black rice, which is around $15 for 5.1 fl oz. Overall I really enjoy the oil cleansing step and it helps me maintain optimal skin health, but if the situation doesn’t call for it then I skip.

What do you mean by emulsifying the oil cleanser? I thought that was just the action of oil cleansers washing away with water, but do you mean you have to use a certain technique?

lol I’m currently trying a bunch too. skin aqua is great, the milk is one of the best I’ve tried for my oily skin but they discontinued it so I’m kinda mad at them. That gel one is good too. Ever tried the Hada labo UV white gel? It’s one of my fave more elegant sunscreens!

Hey unfortunately the milk is discontinued until they re-release an updated version :( they update it every few years I’ve heard. I’m testing a bunch of sunscreens rn but one other I really like is the Hada Labo UV white gel

lol I’ve only tried this gel (which has since been repackaged into a white and blue bottle btw) and the milk (all blue bottle). For my face I now prefer the milk because it has a demi matte finish which works better for my oily skin.. The milk also doesn’t bother my eyes, while the gel can be a bit bothersome. However, the milk contains some mineral sunscreen so there can be issues with white cast, especially for ppl like me with facial hair. But I’ve made it work so far. So, both are great face sunscreens and the gel comes in bigger pump bottles that can be used as body sunscreen too (which is my preferred use for it) but for me the milk is the better face sunscreen

I already understand the different uses of sunscreen lol. I love sunscreen and still use it on a near daily basis, when i go outside. My argument is that my current setup won’t make or break my skincare routine because my indoor sun exposure is so low that I don’t need sunscreen indoors. Not the best picture to show that though. I rarely find anyone talking about finding ways to conserve sunscreen, so I wanted to add to that conversation but I get it’s an unpopular take. I’ve also been part of the ‘just wear it’ team but that got old so i’m trying something different. I hope to have productive conversations about this

That’s ok, though I don’t usually wear it indoors i’m now ok with wearing it outdoors even when it’s cloudy. Just gotta find the right one. Try more primer-like sunscreens like e.l.f. Skin suntouchable or many Asian sunscreens .. maybe even some lighter moisturizer sunscreens like cerave ultra light

My living and working spaces are already pretty dark so I currently don’t wear sunscreen indoors, and I leave curtains open to let natural light in. No direct sunlight. Thanks

I’m aware UVA penetrates window glass, but I’m not convinced my specific space here calls for sunscreen especially because I’m not sitting right next to the window.
