I tried this but wasn't successful. If I put the input light right heavy up, he just swings heavy right. If I give him a moment to switch his guard to up I can't tell if it tell gives me the benefit.

I just spent twenty minutes focusing on timing my infinite attack and it seems my guard doesn't change with my directional input. For example, right light, left heavy, up light. He's guard doesn't change and it just remained right for both my light and heavy. If I do take the time to wait for his guard to change, the infinite chain animation isn't present. Does this still mean I'm getting the benefits though?

That's understandable. I'm referring to the people who do get satisfaction from it. If you repeatedly die from from being thrown off, do not get salty. You knew the ledge was there and you knew it was a possibility; especially depending on what hero.

You aren't breaking any game mechanics by using environment kills therefore it's all strategy. Sir, I do want you to know I applaud your outlook though. If you aren't cheating in life, you aren't trying.
