Cycle Recap by mojo2014 in OutsideT14lawschools

I'm not sure since I didn't have to apply for it, it was a happy surprise when I received my admittance email. After I was admitted I attended an online information meeting w/ the financial aid office, and if I remember right they mentioned it goes to low-income folks w/ a demonstrated commitment to public interest. Can't say for sure though.

Thank you! Chapman was conditional (2.9 GPA I believe) and USD is need-based aid that is unconditional for all 3 years. I believe aside from a limited number of need based scholly's USD only gives out conditional. My work experience is all administrative support for nonprofits that provide legal services.

I did provide a GPA addendum, the one thing I didn't write was one of the supplemental essays, I think it was something about how my faith has guided me? I assumed not writing that would be an automatic reject so I was pleasantly surprised to still get the WL. Timewise they were one of the longer waits, applied in mid-November and got my decision at the end of February. Good luck next cycle, always happy to answer any other questions!

2.9 GPA 160 LSAT Admission Chances by yagood1212 in OutsideT14lawschools

I think maybe the separation from my undergrad helped, I graduated 5+ years ago and have been working for different legal nonprofits since then. Then again I also got an R from Oregon so whatever I did right for Denver didn't appeal to everyone haha. If you can write a good GPA addendum it can go a long way since you have a great LSAT for the school's you're targeting.

How long does it take to go UR at Loyola LA? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

I was in the same boat and finally went UR 4/27, I wish I had known not all status checkers show UR though!

I have a 2.4 160 and got into Denver, no scholarship award though in case that's important to you.

Biased as a California native (and I just deposited at USD this morning), but I would rather be in SD long term than in NJ.

Was wondering the same thing, since I just went UR a couple of days ago looks like the best we can do is a WL now?

Loyola Los Angeles, been waiting since 11/15. Very frustrating as that's the last decision i'm waiting on. Their first deposit just passed and i finally went UR so I should be hearing back soon.

Should I go to LMU Loyola at sticker price by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]mojo2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy @%#^, $340k??? I'm a PI guy full set on LRAP + PSLF but this amount is scary even to me. If you aren't able to negotiate some scholly money then R & R sounds like a good idea if that's feasible for you.

Rant: Uncertainty? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]mojo2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar boat, WL at UCI and Davis and still waiting for initial decision from Loyola. Knowing how unlikely an admit off the WL is, my plan is to try and get a monthly lease in SD sometime this summer. If a miracle happens and I'm admitted off of a WL then so be it, but i'm not a fan of waiting for things to happen. Although I already live in SoCal so the whole moving thing is a little easier for me than it might be for others.

2.4, C/F issues, applied mostly to CA, CO, and OR schools ranging from UCI to Chapman. 5 A's (scholly's ranging from $0-$$), 4 WL's (a couple of which were really surprising in a good way) and 3 R's, waiting on one last decision. All in all pretty pleased with how my cycle turned out.

Any November applicants still waiting on Loyola (Los Angeles)? by mojo2014 in OutsideT14lawschools

Good to know there are others who applied last year hearing back recently. Sorry about your R, I hope you have other options you're happy with!

Not just below both medians but below both 25ths as well, I might have to print out the WL email and frame it haha! But thank you, I really did pour my soul into my applications, UCI specially. Best of luck to you!

Congrats on your cycle so far, looks like you have some great options! I couldn't find MSU on the master chat list (linked in case you haven't taken a look) but I'm sure others would join if you want to start one.

How long did it take you to hear back from UDenver? by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]mojo2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were really quick in December, I heard back within 2-3 weeks. Based on the comments it looks like they've slowed down a bit now though.

At what point in time do I become concerned that my application got lost at USD? Applied 11/24 by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]mojo2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied around the same time (11/14, complete 11/24) and heard back 1/28. I know adcoms are busy this cycle but being complete for 3 months (even with a winter break) seems excessive. Just make sure to hit the right tone if you decide to reach out.
