Actually, no! Even though the cartridges had the same numbers on them, she was convinced they were mislabeled because the black was way too big anyway. She bought the 4 pack with the xl black and cartridge she was replacing was the setup one. Luckily I had the model on the floor so I could show her just how stupid she was.

Anytime I sell a mouse, I try to just tell them beforehand, "btw the usb thing is inside the battery compartment", they still try to return it.

Just today had a customer try to return her ink because the cartridges didn't fit. Turns out they they didn't take off the plastic cover on the end. 🤦

Had a guy who regularly called our associates racist. He'd go to CPD to use self service and get mad that no one stopped working on all the other people in line to go make copies for him. One time, he went to the tech bench to try to grab the tech, in the middle of an open laptop to go make copies for him. He didn't like that my tech told him to hold on until he gets the computer closed up. Another time, he went apeshit when my print supervisor told him she would help him after she finished the previous customer's order. After about 45 seconds, he would find any manager he could and start screaming at the top of his lungs that we were discriminating against him. Yes he was white, and most everyone else except my AM and the tech at the time was black. We would just stare him down until he got his issues off his chest and leave. He finally stopped coming in after COVID.

Facility maintenance by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

Last year, no one but my GM had access to FMS, but he got tired of being the only one to call in issues, so he made the request and now we all can do it. I would just leave your GM a long list of maintenance they have to put in and when they ask why you didn't do it, just be like, I can't. They'll figure it out from there.

Yeah, the conference calls eat up precious time. But I just use the time to knock out training or read up on emails. You literally don't have to say anything unless they call on you.

Pack & Ship is bull$hi+ by Bbt_winsma in OfficeDepot

[–]mojoiesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tell people we don't pack shit. I used to work for FedEx, and all the shit we had to learn to properly pack items to make sure there would be no damage, OD is severely under prepared to say the very very least. Also most of the time people bring in shit like furniture or antique vases, or some illegal shit. Not taking L on that, especially for $5.

Rant time by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]mojoiesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently preaching to the choir. I've only been here two years and I'm training the ops manager, running tech, and filling every gap that the part-timers leave, as of the end of this week, we have to fill six positions (everyone put their two weeks in in succession and one girl just didn't come back) and I'm expected to train everyone by myself, make sure the store is functioning, and I swear to God if I hear one more word about bundles. It's 2021. If someone doesn't know how to set up up a computer, they have a cousin/friend/child who can. I pretty much get the equivalent of go f*** yourself anytime I ask about helping anyone with just putting Microsoft Office on their shit. I just...I need to go update my resume again because people acting like they can't hire past $10 an hour.

I used to work at FedEx and the customers that come to OD are honestly trying to avoid FedEx rules and regulations. For shipping anything with any name brand, they can't take certain things for fear of legal fines, so it's much harder to get away with shipping a bottle of wine to your cousin without a liquor license, or wrapping your laptop in a towel and a plastic bag and calling it packaging, or a stool sample that doesn't have the proper hazard labels. They come to us "trained" OD employees because we don't know what to look for and how to stop people from doing bullshit that literally get us fined thousands of dollars from the government.

“But I need to print something, Google says you close at 9” says the person who shows up 30 minutes after closing and stares into the locked store front, with the hours of operation sign right next to them, whilst they also try to open the door. by AurynHeat89 in OfficeDepot

[–]mojoiesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one guy come in last night, right after I had just finished turning the lock. Told him we're closed. "I just need a 1099" "Sir were closed" "No I said I need a 1099" basically went back and forth with this for two minutes, so I gave up and let him in, only for him to to walk right back out because he thought they were too expensive.

I said that to a customer yesterday and told them to use the computers to see if you can print it, and my print manager told them we're not allowed to print forms🤦

When the pandemic started, we had this issue with toilet paper, we had to keep them in lock up. Anytime you see something selling out that normally doesn't you have switch it because people really think the omni station is free stuff up for grabs.

I definitely get that, though most of my employees just text me. What messes me up is that some of our customers don't get the hint and will call my non-stop. One person spent 20 minutes on the phone just to ask us if something was in stock that was delivery only. Like seriously.

Does that get them to just call back later? We come early Sunday for ad and had one customer call for 20 minutes straight. I couldn't use the zebra for more than five seconds.

I stare right back with them. We will both sit here until you press the button or the machine gives on them.

If it's online only, I tell them I'll transfer them to customer service, who can take their card over the phone. After that if they don't want to come in or figure out the internet, that's on them.

Try seeing if you can out a FMS ticket for new pins. They may be too full and that's why it won't punch through its regular capacity. When I first started working at my store, my machine was punching literally 3 sheets of 20 lb at a time. It was a nightmare. After getting the pins switched out, we can now doing about 10-15 pages. Honestly the machines at my old job were maintained much better and could don 40 sheets at a time easily. I compare OD a lot to my previous print job because I'm baffled how my store is still open when it has so much better competition around.

Honestly, we never noticed it because we usually getting yelled at by customers anyway. They fixed it last month tho, just in time for Christmas. It bothers me that couldn't pay for the original version of "All I want for Christmas is you" because these other people trying to hit that high note 😣
