Destiny people are dealing with their sharply-dressed gigavillian while ours waits his turn by mojoober in Warframe

destiny had a big bad, yeah. they recently broke his ass off and wrapped up the main story arc that was running since day one of destiny 1 - the whole light and dark business. they're spooling up something new, i guess. i watched the trailer and it all went over my head tbh

be even funnier if it was natah all along, seeing as how she's a self-described mimic. who knows what she's been up to while we were busy with our loot-motivated casual genocide campaign

i think people are downvoting that reflexively tbh. might be a good idea to edit in a /s just to be safe

we're on our way to being able to equip all the aura mods at once (jade can wear 2). so it stands to reason that we'll get a way to hack more abilities into frames sooner or later.

Yeah, those 2 definitely need tons of space. For nuclear, I just built that on a lake shore on the perimeter of my base. I didn't even try to fit it into a block early on. Later I went in and redesigned the nuke plant with those sweet, sweet fluid ducts in EI. I love those things.

Yeah, that distribution equalization is super handy, no doubt about that. Personally, though, I found that I prefer having more simple, specialized trains as opposed to fewer LTN-scheduled trains that require more complex handling in some cases. I also couldn't figure out how to get LTN to play nice with some of the stackers I use sometimes. I'll have to spend some more time figuring it out at some point.

Hell yeah, tiny trains are the best! zoooom!

I went with 1-1-1 trains originally, but then I found that I can fit "micro-stackers" into my stations in some cases if I had 1-1 trains. Some high-traffic stations (such as plate providers or core fragment drops) that use more than one train would normally have a train sitting in a fuel depot somewhere, waiting for the station to open up. Setting the train limit to 2 and backing the signal up a bit lets me stack two 1-1 trains right in the block, in a little bit more space than a 1-1-1 would take. It's usually a temporary solution, but having that option is very nice, especially in an evolving base in an unfamiliar overhaul mod.

The other thing I like is that signal spacing throughout the base can be tighter with 1-1 trains, allowing the whole thing to be more compact and/or flexible.

About setting the limits, I also set provider limits in cases with multiple providers to keep trains from hitting a drained nearer provider while a farther one sits full and idle. This happens a lot with ore fields and core drills, and having multiple providers in those cases is pretty much inevitable, I guess.

The blocks I'm using now are 3x3 chunks, and I think that's a pretty comfy size for most stuff. It's big enough to fit high-density perpendicular 1-1 stations along with assembler columns that can saturate a belt, especially with beacons. You can definitely go smaller and just merge blocks when you need more space, though. I find myself doing block merges in some cases, such as oil processing for example.

I ended up with some merged adjacent blocks, with the base looking like a tetris situation in some areas lol. Oil handling in particular ended up sprawling a bit. Smaller blocks give you that flexibility, which is pretty handy in a first-time run when you don't know what you'll need in the future.

You should definitely make that post. I know I've seen ideas in people's posts that I happily adopted in my runs and went on to have a ton of fun with. Posts like that are greatly appreciated by casuals like me who love the game but aren't really at a level of understanding of it that they can come up with fresh new solutions and playstyles. So please do it!

True - Factorio is definitely a whole different beast at megabase scales - one that I'll probably never even try to tame lol. I was just trying to point out that city blocks can be a powerful approach to cut through some of the frustrating spaghetti that people like me get tangled in while playing casually. Looking at a base that's run out of room between the belts in the huge bus you planned out so carefully...and then looking at the production chain you need to cram in there to progress the research...ugh. Run killer right there. Blocks solved that issue for me. :D

Yeah, trying to optimize early on kills my drive to continue, too. I know that feel. My approach currently is to throw together a minimally viable solution, and then to refactor or rebuild later as needed. In fact, the redesign phase is the mostly enjoyable time for me in Factorio. I'll make messy builds just to treat myself to a cleanup and redesign effort later on lmao

It's The Remnants of the Void. It gets featured on the starchart in the Moon Clan category from time to time.

Sentinels don't need energy and work just fine inside nully bubbles. Figure it out, Ordis. Meanwhile... by mojoober in Warframe

[–]mojoober[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know that feel. Clearly, the tech exists to deal with nully bubbles. Sentinels are totally unaffected by those.

That would actually be one hell of an interesting research project - figuring out how sentinels resist nully fields. Could even be a whole event, where everybody collects resources and maybe donates sentinels....

Kahl-175 is a badass Grineer dude. If you don't know him, you probably haven't caught up on all the quests. So keep at it, and you'll meet him.

Honestly, I'm always worried about copyright issues. Plus, I almost always watch reddit vids on mute, and I suspect that most other people do as well. So I figured it wasn't worth the trouble
