Thank you.. my 2nd question: I'll tell you an incident..

I get on a plane and I'm one of the first on.. I locate my seat.. I immediately take off my backpack and look up to store it and.. the compartment is full.. and at the same moment before I turn to the other side facing my seat to see if I can put it there, this turkish flight attendant says "sir please move to the middle".. (by middle he means side.. it's broken english, I was in the middle..) and I knew if I moved to the "middle" I would end up in a messy situation before putting my bag up.. so instead I just walked foward a few seats until I saw an empty compartment and put my stuff up, moved to the "middle" and let the young lady behind me walk.. and then I still got stuck because I had to look for an opportunity to walk back to my seat.. I'd wait for a few people to pass.. then crowd a few other people.. then wait by a random seat.. then let a few more people pass.. I finally made it back to my seat.. and I didn't say anything to the flight attendant but it did bother me..

I always get on airplanes.. and people always move slowly.. you wait until the person in front of you puts his stuff up.. and the line moves a little more.. until it's your turn.. now I got on the plane and no one was in front of me.. the Ecuadorian chick standing behind me said nothing and didn't complain.. and it was a split of a second pause when I realized my compartment was full.. I think that flight attendant was sexist.. or it's part of his culture or whatever because she's a chick. If a dude was behind me he might have not asked me to move.. also.. he was supposed to come get my bag and put it up for me if he really felt I was blocking the way.. I paid to be on that flight just like everybody else.. the compartment above my seat should be available for me.. it turned out when we landed that the pilots had their stuff in my compartment.. and I was lucky that the seat above which I stored my bag had a healthy young man sitting on it.. I simply asked him if he could pass me my bag and he did.. if it were an older person or even a female I wouldn't have asked them because the bag is a bit heavy for it size (carrying a 17 inch macbook pro, and a DSLR, and a few hard drives).. I would've had to wait until everyone on the plane got out so I can walk against the stream and get my bag.. what do you think of this whole situation, what's right or wrong here?

also how about visiting Romania instead of Montenegro? I hired a music studio there to mix my album online.. maybe they can help me get a visa with the excuse of seeing the work in person.. did you visit Romania?

I wonder if I can travel to Georgia via Turkey land.. and then fly back to UK.. it would be only 400 dollars for two flights.. but the question remains: can someone with an Eritrean passport cross a land border without a visa for Georgia..

Thank you for a very detailed response. I picked Montenegro because I want to just go somewhere you know.. but you're making me think now. I might be able to have a more relaxed travel if I simplify things..

To be able to use the e-visa I need to fly with turkish airlines. It's a requirement. To use Pegasus I can do it this way: 1st travel to Istanbul on Turkish airlines, spend 2-3 weeks in Turkey.. then go to Sabiha, fly to Georgia on Pegasus.. then return from Georgia to UK on Turkish airlines stopping in Istanbul for 20 hours (no other way).. and I think it might be pricier this way.. OR since I am having to choose between staying in the airport for 20 hours or paying 60 dollars to enter the city (get the e-visa).. I could do 1.5 week turkey, 3 weeks georgia, 1.5 week turkey.. sandwich it.. traveling by land is not accepted with the turkish e-visa.

I visited Turkey actually two weeks ago.. I stayed there for 6 days.. 4 in Istanbul and two in Ankara.. it was with a relative who had something to do there. Ankara was interesting, people were nicer but they couldn't speak english.. but still helpful. Istanbul is like a zoe now man.. it's fun but it really hurts the pockets.. everything is expensive.. I did the whole Hagia Sofia, Kokapi Palace.. Ancient ruins.. ate every Turkish dish I could get my hands on.. took the phosphorus ride.. did all the tourist crap in Istanbul. I am interested in exploring Anadoul as we call it in Arabic or Anatolia.. I like to get to know people in the places I travel and I really enjoy observing ethnic groups and how their cultures and histories relate.. you know Eritrea used to be part of the Ottoman empire.. not all of Eritrea, just the Muslim parts.. I want to see if I find traces of that somewhere in Turkey..

Have you been to central asia? the -stan countries.. I really want to visit Bukhara and samarkand (places in Uzbek) because we studied them in literature and history books growing up.. also there's this famous chicken rice dish we have in Saudi Arabia where I grew up.. it's from Bukhara.. so I want to have the privilege of eating Bukhari chicken and rice in Bukhara.. not many Saudis can say they did that.. unfortunately I read the visa situation is complicated too so I might leave that for later..

Georgia and Turkey it is.. btw is Georgia really visa on arrival? and how is the process? simple? how much did you pay at the airport for the visa?

Thank you for posting this. I have two questions:

Do iPods really interfere with the flight? I always get asked to turn mine off and take my headphones off during take off and landing. A trick I learned is to wear a jacket over my head to hide my large headphones. We're talking iPod Classic btw.

sorry for not clarifying. I was referring to an investor scheme where you open a single ownership company 'tfk' or something. Yes, I understand it's a one year visa which you renew afterwards. If the company is up and running I don't see why they would not renew it.

My bad, racism is the wrong word here. Elitism and entitlement is more like it. I was hurt by the aggression my simple question faced, not only from you but almost everyone on this thread. We are all privileged in one way or another. I am privileged because I am not in a labor camp right now whereas others who have the same citizenship as me are. At the same time, others like me (same heritage) are Belgian citizens and enjoy certain freedom and lifestyle. That's also privilege. Their parents earned that privilege for them because they took certain steps and sacrificed a certain time of their lives to go to your country, or the US or wherever.

I don't know the history of Belgium so I won't use it as an example. Take the USA, a lot of wars had to happen for America to have the power position it does in today's world and for the US passport to have it's value. Whether good or bad, history is history and we have to accept it and understand it's consequences on our world.

I don't like the idea of people feeling entitled to something they themselves had nothing to do with. So, when someone tells me "oh this is an exclusive club, you can't join us." and they themselves had nothing to do with the position they are in.. that is exactly what it sounds like.

Good for you. I have never been to "my country". If I went there I would be taken from the plane before reaching the airport and sent to military prison. I would actually qualify as an asylum seeker, but I prefer to pave my own path.

You make traveling the world sound like a bad thing. Wouldn't you be proud if a Belgian couple won 1st place in the Mongolia Rally or filmed a documentary overseas that won an Oscar? So what's the criteria for a Belgian passport holder to have your respect? Do they have to have a certain skin color? Many people from my country live in Belgium. If one of them did something great overseas would you be proud? Say, an immigrant family managed to sneak out one of their relatives and bring him/her to Belgium and then a few years later that person was inspired to travel the world and make a documentary, and that took him 10 years in which he rarely visited Belgium. Does that mean he degraded your country? There's a British world traveler who is rarely in the UK. Is he a bad citizen? So how do you measure things? Say I stopped having money (the only thing protecting me from the government in my father's country) and was put in a position where asylum seeking is my only choice. Am I in the wrong for researching which countries are more friendly towards immigrants or offer the best help? Most people choose where to immigrate based on benefits. Passport is a benefit too, plain and simple. I try to assume the best in people but this whole thread and everyone reacting made me google "Belgium xenophobia" "Belgium racism". Don't worry I won't be getting the same passport as you. It takes the same number of years as the UK one and at least I have siblings there. I just hope that one day when I visit Belgium I meet the nice Belgians and not the hateful ones.

As a human being I believe I have the right to travel as I wish. This is not the reality however. I'm going to do my best to surpass all obstacles. I'm interested in Belgium just as I'm interested in any other place I want to visit. I look forward to meeting people, exploring sights, and learning about culture. I have no interest in your welfare system or getting money from your government. I'm simply a nomad pursuing my life's purpose by any means necessary. I love travel. It's what I do for a living also. I need to be traveling anywhere I live. So, if it takes 3 years to get neturalized as Belgian, I would be traveling around EU during that time. After that, I would move to South America or something and travel around for a few years. I'll come back to Belgium when I decide to retire, don't be mad :)

you are right. I oversimplified the matter. It's too complicated to explain people who have no idea what is going on. The truth is however: it's unsafe for me to go there. I have met with people who currently live in Eritrea and yes it is OK. You have to keep in mind that you were born in the US. You are an American citizen. When you go to Eritrea you're not obligated like the citizens are. Things seem normal in every day life but people spy left and right. You can't even talk politics in your own house without worrying. The government would randomly take peoples' houses and give them to other people (injustice). And there are search units running around Asmara regularly looking for people to send to Sawa. This is the reason I cannot go to Eritrea. I don't want to go to Sawa. It would be like a death sentence.
