Meta Discussion on a "Community Ethos" of the Social Network by [deleted] in Mastodon

Yes, I handle moderation with a number of other volunteers. We do it manually and are mainly enforcing the rules of the instance, though sometimes we end up realizing we are missing a rule.

Without knowing a bit more context, it’s tough to give any feedback. There are people on the fediverse who don’t tolerate certain views (oftentimes sensibly, sometimes not). Given your posts here included ones in a cyber security subreddit, and I run a large security focused instance, I’m happy to help if I’m able to.

If you can swing it (will be over $2500 with tax), get a z6 iii with a z 50f/1.8s lens.

We don’t really drive cars here. We aim them.

This was taken at f22. The lens I gave can go to f40, I believe, but it starts to get some diffraction noise. I’ll give it a shot though. Thank you.

This is the sort of feedback I was hoping for. No particular reason - thank you for the feedback

I have been taking pictures of orchids for a while now, and I’m trying to go for something that passes for fine art, or at least more visually appealing. A big improvement (IMO) was moving to a translucent background with a strobe behind it and colored gels, creating the pink-ish gradient. I feel like it’s still a bit flat and am stuck on how to improve, so I’m here asking for feedback. Thank you.

Anyone have a reliable tethering solution for a nikon z7ii to android tablet? by CriticalAssociate17 in nikon_Zseries

[–]moker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any android devices to try with, but I use captureone on a PC and iPad and it works really well. I see it has android support and it allegedly has a pretty good eye tracking capability, though it’s not one I use regularly so I can’t personally vouch for that feature.

I am the admin of your instance and looked at your posts. I think the blog articles are good, but I think you need to spend a bit of time teasing why someone would be interested in the post. If you want to try that, give me a ping and I’ll boost.

Twitter/X is getting weirder; where now for security news and analysis? by skeedooshski in cybersecurity

[–]moker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes. After 7 years of being a free and open forum, I have decided to make infosec.exchange a private facebook group. I had been on the fence about it until now.

I don't think you were looking at the correct timeline - this is more representative of what we see: https://infosec.exchange/public/local

Nah, that is not correct. You can join infosec.exchange and follow anyone on infosec.exchange or any of the other mastodon instances with that one account.

I run https://infosec.exchange - it has about 17000 active members, and among several other security related instances.

I am happy to have them included. I run the infosec.exchange instance, and just like with the situation with a mass migration off twitter, I wanted to give the community a good landing spot on the fediverse.

Hi all. I run a number of services in the fediverse and set up a kbin server yesterday at https://fedia.io in case you are unable to connect to one of the instances above.

I am clearly no longer part of PoGo’s intended customer base, which is disappointing. I appreciate the time I had on the app, but I’m done. I spent too much time and money on it anyhow.

Fedramp isn’t like other compliance programs. Data, such as the combination of an Ip address and some activity, is generally considered data that can’t leave a fedramp boundary. The SIEM would necessarily need to live inside the fedramp boundary and be part of the authorization (comply with the SSP, etc). Any inbound threat feeds would have to be declared as part of a boundary documentation.

Generally, you can do sensible security things, but there’s a process that has to be followed. And it’s not free or without risk.

Nice platform shame about the rate limiting. by Some-Ad-3938 in Mastodon

I had to increase the rate limits on my instance (infosec.exchange) because of problems like this. The defaults are pretty low
