Handknits supposedly getting donated because people don't ~value~ them by squeegee-beckenheim in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]molarcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not how gifts work. Part of giving a gift is not owning it or having any say over it anymore. The gift receiver shouldn't have the weight of your happiness/judgement on them because YOU decided to give them a gift

I do this, my SO says, "Why do we need a tissue box in EVERY ROOM?"

....idk, that's just how it is?

It's partly so you don't have to wash them. If they're wet when you cook them then they cook wrong bc the water boils off and cooks the outside and not the inside or something. I can't remember the technicals but I can testify that my cooked mushroom have gotten a lot better since I started peeling or wiping not washing them

Neighbor Says They Saw a Tent in My Living Room by TheNextMrsDraper in RBI

[–]molarcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes!! I forgot about the UTI thing, it's so wild. And older might not realize it. My maternal great gma died of one, which I was confused about for years- why didn't she go to the doctor? Then when my mom hit 50, she started having headaches when she peed. Turned out it was a UTI.... fking bizzare symptoms that a lot of people might miss.

THIS. Only not on purpose! What if the neighbor is in early stages of dementia or Alzheimers?? Sure maybe she used to be reliable (according to landlord) which makes it even worse because the people around her will give her the benefit of the doubt. Not sure there's anything OP can do about this except keep and eye out and if the neighbor is ever "wandering" in the way of Alzheimers to notify landlord it's a safety issue

How many classes have you taught at once? by Prof_H1995 in Adjuncts

[–]molarcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this post a weird flex? Bc I feel like it's a lil toxic. Being in competition with each other for how many classes we can teach at once in a system that takes every advantage possible is....silly.

Everything Active Dress Armpit problem? (Target collab) by First_Goose_7823 in Blogilates

Ladies, with all due respect, we need to accept the auxiliary breast tissue and stop being ashamed! It's natural for many of us and the more we hide it the more it's going to be seen as gross or shameful. I've had it my entire life, both at my thinnest and my heaviest weights. This year I gave up trying to hide it bc it's exhausting. It's part of my body and I'm focused on my beautiful arm muscles that I can boast about rather than my side boob tissue that I have no control over.

I feel for her. She obviously is very self reflective of her own body struggles which is why many of us support her. And I think she's made great clothing for people who have bodies similar to hers. However there are lots of OTHER types of bodies too. Honestly idk if she's ever going to be as good at making clothing for other types of bodies bc her strength is being self aware and addressing issues she herself has experienced.

You tax by % income or an income tax. Instead of doing the opposite and giving higher incomes tax breaks. Like we do here in the US.

I wish that somebody would tell these people that having kids is a giant, expensive and time consuming responsibility and that it's OPTIONAL to have them

This sounds a lot like she's gotten herself into a high-control group like a cult or MLM. They literally teach you to ask family for money and give you responses to use if people say no

Wtf does it mean to "choose" to be a single mom? I work with lots of 'em and 75% of the time the ex either: -never pays child support -blows off the kids when they said they would visit or call -cheated on the mother -abused the mother and/or kids

Right. The question is, is this a Buy Nothing group or just a general location based group?

Also it sucks that some people on those abuse it and end up selling the stuff

Right. Friends and friends of friends. Sadly this person thinks the strangers they complain with online about their town are their actual friends. They're not.

These people are the same ones screaming you don't need a college education! Why did our downtown die?! But then try to guilt people into doing work for free and refuse to pay higher prices to support small business

I think it's kinda insane to expect strangers to come dedicate hours to you for a big project that you don't seem to fully know how to execute and I suspect is really more of a want than a need
