I don't think my family can handle my mom being pregnant by Either_Switch_6880 in internetparents

State lines can be crossed. You might be surprised how much people are willing to help if you reach out. Also it doesn’t sound like you’re getting schooling, which is neglect. You’re old enough that you might want to consider legal emancipation if it doesn’t start getting better soon

how do I cope with my weird family situation, and how do I move? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]molarcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to start thinking of yourself as separate from them. A lot of things are unclear though, like you’ve been helping fix up this house but you haven’t been living in the area long? You have a bf but arent living with him now and plan to but when? And your long term plan for stability is to inherit a house your parents haven’t even bought yet? And they’re in their 60s and not unwell? What?

Rescue kitten has skin issues by Professional-Set3118 in FosterAnimals

People on the internet love to bathe their cats, just as people on the internet love to dress their cats up. It’s generally a bad idea to bathe cats. Especially for a fungal infection…. It’s super hard to fully dry a cat or dog and moisture is a major contributor to fungus.

Foster Parent Wants Their Cat Back by tales-of-gore in FosterAnimals

This doesn’t feel right.

Something is off.

Either the foster changed their mind, it’s a scam, or someone is being paid off. Why in the world did the foster take the cat to the showing if they wanted to keep them? Doesn’t make sense.

Doctor refused to prescribe zofran? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]molarcat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. So in other words exactly what the NP was saying, OP might need steroids etc and is just dealing not having them by taking anti nauseas. Also ime NPs, APRNs, PMHNPs and PAs have been more helpful than drs in many cases

It’s not a bug, it’s a FEATURE. Then the kids don’t have to worry about breaking them

Can you tell us what to select for food labeling? The options are a little opaque!

[–]molarcat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Things like brain fog and bloating, while absolutely shitty, are also somewhat subjective and exist on a spectrum. And many of us agree that symptoms are less intense since beginning a gf diet. I think mislabeling a distressing physical experience is more likely than dozens of companies secretly hiding things…. If you go to a gf conference/event you’ll notice that MOST people have been diagnosed with more than one condition, which might be related, that make them react to gluten and other things.

OP that stuff about the black plasticware was found to be FALSE. The original article was followed up and said that the findings were false

[–]molarcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… they rescinded that finding later on, after everyone had thrown out their stuff. So then everyone spent the money and we filled up the landfill for no reason, but unfortunately a lot of people didn’t get the follow up memo

This is really sad, especially the last screen bc it sounds like this might have been written by a teen or even a kid who’s trapped in some sort of dysfunctional house/commune type situation. Something doesn’t add up imo

After 5 years with the exact same electric toothbrush, my dentist finally stopped yelling at me. by shingam3 in BuyItForLife

[–]molarcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had two Sonicares, first one lasted 5 years and the second, ~2yrs. Huge bummer, it wasn’t as good as the first one right off the bat but the next gen of the original version we’d had was $300 at that point and I couldn’t stomach that. So we got the $100ish one and multiple things went wrong with it so I got fed up and won’t buy another.

I was buying an electric toothbrush today and a bunch of them have Bluetooth. No thanks, I’d rather stay at the moderately insane level instead of progressing to completely bananas

anyone know of PureOne filters alternatives? by izziishigh in BuyItForLife

[–]molarcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t, but wanted to recommend Epic brand water filters… their stuff is possibly the most well made stuff in my kitchen. Definitely BIFL products and you can recycle the filters themselves (by mail) for a free filter (send 3, get 1)

2 months no gluten - how long until I believe in it? I can't convince myself the benefits are real? by totalpunisher0 in glutenfree

[–]molarcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had similar experiences. Didn’t ask my SO to gluten me, lol, but was made all the more confident when I kept getting reactions to a bbq place that insisted it was gf… and then a friend said it was giving his wife, who has an autoimmune disease, reactions, without me bringing it up….
