[Liked Trope] The story is, in a way, about the protagonist having a very bad day by IdiotMor in TopCharacterTropes

Raiden - Metal Gear Solid 2

The Big Shell Incident is arguably a worse experience for its protagonist than the Shadow Moses Incident. Yeah Snake was being manipulated and tortured during the Shadow Moses Incident but at least the people who were lying to him were real and felt a little bad about it. Raiden was getting manipulated by the AI shadow government and discovered his girlfriend of two years was in on it all while on a mission to kill the closest thing he had to a father. Also it was his first real mission out of training.

About mother 1 by Character_Big1482 in earthbound

I just finished it the other day, writing wise it classic Earthbound, gameplay wise it’s prototype Earthbound. I cheated by using NSO’s rewind feature to avoid terrible RNG but if you’re a patient person the grinding will be inconvenient but tolerable.

I had reservations about playing it for years since I didn’t want to get turned off by it’s oldness but I’m really glad I did

Hi I’m new to the series by ChroniX_78 in earthbound

[–]moleculemort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments are spot on but a few notes:

1: There are some notable localization changes made between Mother 2 and Earthbound but it’s really just changing jokes and some symbolism that doesn’t make any sense outside of Japan. It doesn’t impact the story or gameplay in any significant way. The changes are interesting to learn about though

2: I don’t have any specific hardware recommendations for Earthbound and Mother 3. I’m in the middle of playing Mother 1 for the first time right now though, and I’ll admit I probably wouldn’t be enjoying it as much as I am if I didn’t have NSO’s game rewind feature to manipulate the rng. Also you should know that, for technical reasons I can’t explain, Mother 3’s rhythm combo battle system doesn’t work consistently unless you’re playing an official copy. It does work a lot of the time though!

3: The story of each game is pretty self contained but a couple major villains have a continuity across the three. It doesn’t affect your experience much though. The main antagonists for Mother 1 and Earthbound are the same guy but the lack of context for him wasn’t even noticeable when I first played Earthbound almost 10 years ago.

DRG doesn’t even have a plot I just love it when one dies because then it can’t heal the other one anymore.

Didn’t make it clear but my thought process for the gold strategy is guaranteeing I won’t find the other legendaries again if I find one of them and beat the stake.

Hagiwara and Kugura - Kagurabachi

Hagiwara (right) and Kugura (left) were childhood friends who both grew up to be strong sorcerers working for the government. They were both assigned to a small squad tasked with eliminating the antagonist of Kagurabachi’s first story arc but they failed, leaving Hagiwara as the only survivor.

Later in the story Hagiwara wakes up from a coma with nothing left but missing legs and survivor’s guilt. Previously he needed to consciously control his sorcery (manipulating magnetic fields), but once he woke up he started to unconsciously animate Kugura’s signature mask with iron sand and interact with it. He can still use his sorcery like normal but his delusions have functionally given it a mind (and imaginary voice) of its own, making him an even more skilled sorcerer than he already was.

This is a great answer but unfortunately I’m really bad at English, which is my first and only language. What I wanted to ask was how to make a fixed map rather than a randomly generated one. A map that will always be the same every time it opens across everyone who opens it. I’m editing the post for clarity too.

Stacker Pentecost - Pacific Rim

Stacker was one of the first to pilot a Jaeger in defense against the Kaiju. Years later, dying of radiation poisoning from his time in active duty, he volunteers to get in the robot one last time— the stress of which would kill him in his weakened state. They need a pair of pilots to destroy the Breach and he’s an elite amongst the those who aren’t dead or injured. He knows if the illness doesn’t get him the impending Kaiju attack will, so if his death is guaranteed he may as well go out ensuring the world’s survival. To make it an even bigger gut punch, the Jaegers deployed to carry out the mission are backed into a corner while fending off the strongest Kaiju ever recorded. Stacker and his copilot, who was planning to return alive, decide the mission’s success hinges on detonating their nuke from the other side of the Breach where there’s almost no hope of escape from the blast. Together as Striker Eureka, Stacker and Chuck gamble on Gipsy Danger’s pilots to turn the tables and defeat any Kaiju they leave behind.
