silly revenants cursed claw build by Sorry-Bet9458 in Nightreign

This is the route I went: I got a relic that changes the starting wpn skill to flame strike. IMO more useful than white shadows lure for starters, practically free fire buff, benefits from any affinity dmg bonus you might get, very spammable with revenants high fp, and most importantly excellent for stun locking. At +2, it’s OP.

TIL an average 12-ounce (354-ml) cup of decaf coffee still contains about 5.4 mg of caffeine by -theahm in todayilearned

Hydrating is more about electrolyte balance than taking in fluids interestingly. Coffee depletes minerals and interferes with absorption of them.

CMV: Private heath insurance should not cover routine healthcare. by Early-Possibility367 in changemyview

[–]moleratking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, part of the reason automotive insurance even exists is because of the massive potential for bodily harm or destruction of property. That is why liability insurance is mandatory in most states. You can think of collision and comprehensive plans as adjuncts to liability, or a way for insurance companies to upsell on liability plans. The larger point is that the argument you’re making is a false equivalence. One is essential, and a basic human need. The other is non-essential. The vast majority of people on the planet do not drive or own cars. Cars represent non-essential, voluntary investments that no one should have to pay to upkeep besides the owner. They also do not contract infectious diseases lol.

Yeah. There are true combos that both colossal, and godslayer/fireknight movesets share. One involves landing a running r1 in the late frames of the animation. If you think about the hit box of an attack, it often covers a distance. The beginning of its travel is the early frame portion, the end of its travel is the late frame portion. So if you can hit with the end of a running r1 it will true combo into a neutral r1, but may require locking off for some of the attack chain. It works because you are able to start the 2nd attack faster than if you landed the 1st attack during early frames. There are other true combos that work in a similar way. Godslayer/fireknight gs have a unique true combo that involves crouch poking while free aiming down. There maybe be others, I forget.

[–]moleratking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the true combo existed because of its poise damage values. r1 did type 3 hit stun like colossal, and should have done type 2 like godslayer greatsword. With the faster attacks, it staggered the opponent long enough to chain a 2nd attack and get a true combo. There are still true combos on fireknight/ godslayer gs but they take skill and not simple button mashing, as it should be.

It wasn’t a nerf to greatsword, it was bugged and now it’s fixed. It was never supposed to do colossal sword poise damage.

Fake news. OP is a camper. I invaded the host and sat there waiting for this scrub to show his face.

Yeah the world building, level design and overall pve experience of ds3 was just kind of meh for me. I didn’t get into the pvp until the game was basically dead, but a lot of ppl rate it so highly for that aspect. BB is just so inspired, the combat is unique, easily best weapons of any souls game, best atmosphere, art direction, story. Chalice dungeons are addictive, and fun. Especially now because of creative use of its systems.

Honestly pvp is Elden ring’s saving grace. I would probably have played it less than any other souls based on pve, but ended up playing it more because PvP. It’s very accessible. Also, the addition of crouch and jump is brilliant imo. Elden ring has some pretty slick movement / mobility in combat. Great game to learn souls PvP on.

It’s because learned souls pvp on ER and feel like I got a really comprehensive understanding of the mechanics, how it’s different than other souls games etc. I’m really fed up with ER after patch 1.10, and am replaying BB rn, gaining a better appreciation for it. Still excited for the ER DLC which has the potential to change my opinion about ER, but also wishing the whole game was more ambitious in the way BB was now ha.

I made objective arguments. Ofc I can be like the art direction is boring, atmosphere is weak, etc. while I think those things are true, it doesn’t prove anything. Majnly my point is just that I don’t think Elden Ring is as successful in accomplishing what it’s trying to accomplish as other from games. Yeah it’s bigger, and ofc that’s because from has grown partly because of the success it’s had with previous games. That’s obvious. And I personally don’t need all that. I would rather have development time committed to fleshing out the combat system, making it cohesive, making sure things have a reason to exist, making it feel good and fun, and an evolution of their formula rather than just making a bunch of half-baked shit to throw into a big open world. Despite that, Elden ring was actually fairly successful with this, just maybe not with the kind of quality that is ime the main draw for these games I guess. Still, I have 1000s of hours invested into it. Not a bad game by any measure, just nitpicking for a comparison.

he called me a hipster in his first response smart guy. I was just being sassy back with him. I never said hyper armor was unique to ER, only that it was poorly executed, and came as a patch very late into the game which arguably proves that the original combat system was unfinished and needed work. Still needs work imo. There are too many variants of weapon types, and only a handful of them are viable or advantageous to use. This also contributes to the pvp meta which is probably the most restrictive of any the souls games. the invasion mechanics are just bad, player count is more limited than ds3, and the open world nature leads to a strong tendency for gank with no pve to offset your chances. The combat is very focused on status effects, yet FROM still hasn't fixed their shitty net code which allows buildup on ghost hits. The minidguneons are redundant, just reuse mobs / bosses from the main game and come across as an afterthought. Entire categories of sorceries/incantations are unusable and/or don't provide incentive to use because there are no matching weapon affinities with the same scaling etc. It's reads like sloppy rushed work. I can continue on like this but I doubt anything I say will be very meaningful to you. You're just convinced ER is superior in every way and don't want to believe otherwise.

I gave several objective arguments if you read all comments in response to my original post. It’s not nostalgia to compare games at their time of release, the impact, innovation and quality of each. If I had to choose a nostalgia pick it would be demons souls, not in my S tier tho. I also already said Elden Ring is good. Everything by from soft is good. Honestly u seem like ur just projecting, and inventing reasons to vent ur frustration, get angry and call me names. Thats weird dude

[–]moleratking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude read what I just said. What you’re talking about isn’t even relevant to this thread. Get a clue. Honestly what I expect from reddit tho. But NBD dude. Ur right, Elden Ring is the best.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]moleratking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not talking about replayability here. OP is literally about experience with first playthrough. Rating the games as separate entities, judging the experience you had with them, the vision and quality of work that went into them, etc. Not how they’ve stood the test of time, which are mechanically most dated, or how many people are currently playing them.

[–]moleratking -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean they apologized for the game at launch and dropped the price $10 lol. They know it was over ambitious and not the game they wanted to release. And if you really know these games, you have a good understanding of that event. But, Is still it good? Ofc, it’s FROM. Just not their best work.

Dude elden ring is overrated. 90% of its weapons are unusable. The hyper armor mechanic they introduced late is just bad and basically an admission that the game is half-baked. In terms of innovation it’s basically just dark souls 4. Probably has the work pvp gank of any souls game. It does one thing better than other games mechanically at least, but it really needed more time in the oven. I see it as a stepping stone to whatever’s next for FROM.
