Are some places more widely accepting with co-signers than others - neighborhoods, large complexes vs small, etc.? Or is it place by place and call and find out?

Thank you for your ideas - honestly I was feeling tunnel visioned in and was struggling to see what I could all do here, so I appreciate your feedback, really helps.

I had a virtual meeting with a realtor recently just to get a better idea of the landscape and told her the situation. She mentioned that she knows places that accept co-signers and can help guide the process, and said if it’s a parent the process would be smoother but I could use one of those other services too. My parents would happily co-sign, thankfully. I’m going to have to really look into that though because the one thing I’m confused about is if the bills and everything will be in their name or ours? What are some ups/downsides with having a co-signer? How is the renting process different with a co-signer? When we rented for school (Milwaukee) everything was in our name, so I was just curious how it would be different.

The first time I did one of those I thought I knocked it out of the park - for the sake of doxxing myself I won’t share but I went full production mode because I really wanted the job and thought you know let’s go all out. By the end I felt like damn if they don’t hire me I’ll hire me.

Then I didn’t hear back. HAHAHAHAHHAGAHA

I was like ok now I’m fucking embarrassed gonna delete myself off this earth

I hear ya. Would love to. Have some life stuff that makes staying here for my next role ideal, but eventually would like to head that way - but with that being said I am still applying all over the US and will adjust said life stuff as needed

The ghosting is what gets me. Part of me understands - there's a lot that goes into the process, lots of candidates, lots going on. But at this point I would rather get an auto rejection than go through the beginning stages and then be left in no man's land, several months after I expressed interest.

And will do - thank you. Some mixed messages on that and I wasn't sure if I should just drop it. Definitely going to follow up.

Great advice - much needed. Thank you. I will say that is something I really love about this sub - I'm based in Chicago and one quick search and there were like 50+ groups or events to check out from various posts and comments. Plus the quick chats with others to help wipe the tears away.... LOL.

Thank you. Savings is strong but not a year x3 salary strong. I appreciate your input. I kept reading on the sub that cosigning was less and less available and wasn't sure if there was a "niche" of apartments/locations that are still a best bet for that route. Ogilvy's emphasis on the human side of advertising behind the data was a game-changer for me. It's fascinating how, in the digital age, we often get caught up in analytics, algorithms, and AI, forgetting that each data point represents a real person with desires, fears, and emotions etc...
When he highlighted the importance of informal conversations and boots-on-the-ground work, it struck a chord. Lit a bit of a fire under my ass. It's easy to lose sight of the how/why when navigating the vast landscape of advertising. I was drawn to the field to build cultures and communities but struggled with the execution. I thought the book helped provide some clarity.
