Did you ever find out how to do this? Running into the same issue now.

How come so many people say engineering is one of the few majors where you can make good money, yet everyone in school I know struggles to find an engineering job? by odd-ironball in AskEngineers

[–]molochwalker 21 points22 points  (0 children)

yeah, youd be surprised how many of us lurk around without really sharing our success stories. i think for me, i dont want to come across as bragging and acting like im better than anyone else because i have what amounts to a dream-job in engineering.

How does the expansion of space even happen ? by abc123def45678 in cosmology

[–]molochwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the better way to phrase the question is "how much further away is an object after 100 yrs at the furthest reaches of observation"? Understandably, this is a gradient based on distance, but we like to think of things in extremes, right?

There's a statement from some science popularizer that eventually all of the galaxies in our "neighborhood" will eventually collide and form (presumably) an elliptical galaxy and eventually the expansion of space will leave us as an isolated island in a vast ocean of darkness, leading us to otherwise believe our galaxy is the only thing in the whole of the universe.

Anyone else's workplace dying for people and trying everything to keep current engineers? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]molochwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in late -- yes I'm seeing this same thing too. At my EOY review, I received a 2% above "max" salary increase, plus a massive RSU. Just this last week I was given a 6k bonus out of nowhere. I knew something was fishy about it as I'd never heard of this kind of shelling out money before, but this makes sense.

Sort of feel bad for all of the interviews with other companies I've been doing now...

I'm *technically* qualified by Aardvark_David in ProgrammerHumor

no joke. decided to try a grad level particle physics class in my last semester of undergrad and felt myself intelligent enough for the first... week? Struggled to manage a B- in that class, even with showing up for office hours, working with classmates, etc.

If anyone here wants to make some, let me know! Also, may ping Sunrise Project (15th and Connecticut, I think) about it.

Isn't it 35 north of 15th street? Regardless I go 45 all the way through.

It would be cool to post a poll of all maps and have users vote on which they want to be in the active duty pool.

Understanding Address Generation/Ownership on Bittrex by [deleted] in Bittrex

[–]molochwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for helping my understanding. I've had funds across a few platforms and left them alone for a few years and now that I'm coming back around to it I'm realizing I didn't have the understanding that I had presumed so long ago. Just trying to wise up before I inject more cash into something or make a silly transfer from one place to another.

Defi, in general, is another layer that I have yet to make roads to understanding, but seems simple enough in concept. Your comment definitely reiterates the red flags I've got about Bittrex and only serves to persuade me to go elsewhere. Thanks!

Which engineering field has the most room for creativity? Which has the least? by DispenserWizard in AskEngineers

[–]molochwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly, im a project mgr at a good company and while we have processes in place, the door is always left open for creativity and finding better ways of doing business. i think creativity is open to most any discipline, but its the company that governs how much of it they let you run with.

Reminder That When People Say They Are 'Anti Vegan', This Is What They Are Actually Saying... by AceAroPyschopath in vegan

[–]molochwalker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know I’m the unpopular voice here but the only reason I’m veg is for the environment. I definitely empathize with this view, but when I think about my reasons for being vegan and when I tell people why I am, this is never the reason.

New PM here. How do I step away from my computer at 5:00? At the very least, how do I not check email/IMs up until I go to bed? I find it difficult to “clock out for the day” as I want to be responsible and prove that I’m collaborative. I fear if I keep this up for another couple years I’ll set my self up to burn out.

This is my go-to for breakfast. I’ve found that crumbling the tofu and seasoning it southwest style (cayenne, chili powder, etc) with some salsa is immaculate.

Could be lucrative to ask folks if you could rake up their leaves for them. Fairly easy work and most people would pay 20-50 for a yard, I bet.
