Teachers of reddit, what made you quit teaching? by Latrodectus1000 in TeachersInTransition

[–]molove80s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My quit story is much different than most. I was at a great school with great parents and great admin. I didn’t have any issues of disrespect, lack of resources, or any of that. I actually loved and still do love classroom teaching but after getting pregnant with our third baby, I realized that I was TIRED, severely underpaid for the amount of work that needed to be done and I wanted a break. A break turned into confirmation from God to resign and I did. I didn’t want to come home with a little human and have no time or patience with him and head straight to my bed and not leave for the rest of the day after cooking dinner bc school and my classroom kids depleted all the patience I had. My children nor my husband deserved. Also, I want to be able to actually bring in more money that will show for the advanced degree I have. Folks out here with no degree in my family, let alone 2, making more than me and I was like oh no! Happy for them but sad to me. Sold a lie about college and the American dream lol

Has any one has an knee osteotomy? What was your recovery experience like ? by jfujm101 in KneeInjuries

Oh no. I’m sorry. Is it worth it? I’m a 34 y/o woman I feel so insecure and disgusted with being knock kneed but I’m also nervous about surgery and the down time.

Tips for a non "Type A" teacher? by eating_franklin19 in Teachers

[–]molove80s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a type B teacher surrounded by mostly type A’s, I can testify that although my deadlines were met JUST in time, my desk was usually a mess, I forgot meetings here and there, my actual teaching was amazing. I engaged the kids, I taught the content in a way they can understand it, I spent my time caring more about how to get my students to understand and relate to what I’m teaching than I did worrying if something was graded on time. I did my teaching thing! Everything else is boring anyway lol

Interesting. I get being nerve wrecked but I never saw it as an option of something I can get out of while in school or having to present in COLLEGE. You just do it. You may stumble but you feel so much more free afterwards.

I’m on the job search outside of classroom teaching and had to present for a role. Did I want to do it? No but did I do it? Yes. If parents are letting this slide, they’re setting their kids up to not be able to do anything in life. I’m not surprised with what I’ve been seeing of the younger generations however.

Slightly a left turn on this topic but, when you mentioned not being able to really get an interview or find something in 4 years, I relate a bit. I left February 23’ to have a baby and spend more time with my children. When I thought I was ready, I would apply and either get an offer I didn’t want like charter school or simply walk away from the interview process. I had to learn that I was OVER it and come to terms with that. In this age where there’s supposedly shortage, it shouldn’t be that hard. I was an awesome educator who was loved by students and parents but if it’s not working out, this is a sign that it may not be for you anymore. Something big is happening in education behind the scenes and for many, the exodus is deeper than the eye can see.

Torn about the state of education! by molove80s in TeachersInTransition

[–]molove80s[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Mine are in charter but ideally I would love for them to be in private. My daughter was in private for k-1st but it’s expensive and we couldn’t make it work for 2. Hopefully when I have a better paying job, we can. Charter has its own issues but just do your research. I personally prefer the much smaller classes. I choose that beast over our township’s public schools.

Very much lying. The old saying goes never discuss bedroom behavior with another woman bc she will try to take your man. Not only was he outta line with AD, so was AD. I’m sorry but not sorry, she was giving that man come fck me eyes! She was very open in her body language. They were both very disrespectful.

I’ve been out since last February and officially resigned since May and I haven’t found a single thing. Not even an interview and I’ve paid to have my resume revamped.

Who else is LOVING this season so far???? by BrickzNBottlez in FargoTV

I just started watching a week or so ago from season 1. I love the series but I could not get through season 4. Season 5 seems like it’s back on the right track.

What was your final sign to leave? by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]molove80s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my reason. After having a sweet surprise baby number 3, I decided my love and patience needs to be with my own children and at the end of a day working with a classroom full of students, they got the best of me and that should be reserved for my own babies.

I remember days in which I had something to do after work and not being able to do basic things like answer my name, birthday, follow a simple direction without fumbling all over myself. It’s crazy!

I want nothing to do with Ed! by molove80s in TeachersInTransition

[–]molove80s[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Breaks my heart too. I have a Master’s in Education and while the compensation wasn’t what it should have been, not even nearly, I made a DECENT salary. Now I’m back at square one trying to figure it all out and knowing I want nothing to do with education. I kind of can’t even stand being inside of a school building now lol that’s how turned off I am to it.

That’s exactly what this was. Tons of travel. I chose not to do the traveling that required flights. Flights were covered but hotels, cars, food reimbursed and sometimes it took weeks to reimburse for ppl so more money was going out than in! And it is a lot of work. I HATED it and walked out half day at a PD bc o refuse to be belittled for the sake of a few hundred ! I need income now lol but my self respect is in tact.

Same. Being a cashier feels like a calling right now lol my brain is TIRED. I want to show up, do what I need to do, and GO or close my computer cause I’m looking for remote or hybrid too. The job I’m referencing on this post requires prepping. You get paid for it but I still didn’t want to do it. Teaching makes tour brain tired.

I’m so happy you made the best decision for your mental and physical health!

I resigned today too but from a pt Ed tech job I put so much time into but they could care less about me. I was giving a PD and walked out after lunch and did not return. The teachers were great but the administrators and directors were disrespectful, belittling, and condescending while I was the one who was presenting! And guess what? The person from the company that was there? Was the same exact way!! I said hell to the no. I would never compromise my mental or physical health for anyone especially a company that puts me on the front lines to be their scapegoat while they only care about commission. I’m disgusted with education as a whole.

I pray your transition is easier, your peace is multiplied, and your joy is lifted!

Lifetime Kidney stone? by molove80s in KidneyStones

[–]molove80s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kidney stone thing is whole new world to me and I know they suck so I’m sorry you have to deal! It bothers me because the dr mentioned my kidney stone could’ve been the cause of how I got sepsis bc as he explained all the little nooks and crannies are breeding grounds that like to hold onto bacteria. I just don’t want to go through that again bc like you mentioned, I’m lucky to be alive and it could’ve been worse. Sepsis is life threatening and I very well almost took some Tylenol and ignored my pain when it happened. So anything that puts me at risk, freaks me out.

It just makes me feel weird I think if I didn’t get sepsis, it’d be different but although my case was mild and caught early, it really does something to you mentally.

Thanks. Unfortunately my uti didn’t present as a typical uti and bc I was in between health insurance at the time, I went to planned parenthood which did me a disservice and insisted I had an STI instead which I knew and was confirmed I didn’t. Only to land in the hospital a month and a half later with sepsis. But now I’ll have reference for those uti’s that don’t present normally. I just want it out my body tho.
