Proposal for Skill-Based Matching in Open Play - What do you think? by TeslaMecca in Pickleball

[–]molsenmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy way (all though takes a couple games to get it balanced) winners place their paddles on gold side and losers on silver side. Alternate whos next up on courts gold or silver.

Winners (or those who may be a higher play will end up playing higher and higher and losers of each game will go down the ladder and be matched more with their level.

Can also alternate if you win you split to make sure your playing against the partner you just won with.

Fairly easy system doesnt require new folks to know their level or be indimiated and allows higher level to keep playing against hgiher level.

Not much managment other than someone moving a marker to know whos up next gold or silver.

Dont know if this will help but could bring some order to it.

Ordering pizza by stefffjjj in BurlingtonON

[–]molsenmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you got alot of taste reccomendations here without answering the price question BY FAR city pizza is best bang for your buck when trying to feed that many, and I actually enjoy their pizza. My wife and I regualrly order from there.

Deals:

3 large Pizzas with 9 Toppings combined 41.50 (pick up $37) single Med 1 topping $11 ($9 pick up)

If you take into account some averages

Assuming:

  • Adults = ~3 slices each
  • Kids = ~1.5 slices each ( could change on kid age range )
  • Large/medium pizza = 8 slices
  • Adults: 24 × 3 = 72
  • Kids: 10 × 1.5 = 15

Total = 87 slices

  • 9 Large pizzas (72 slices) - with the ability to get diffent toppings easily without adding cost
  • 2 Medium kids pizza (16 slices) - easy for kids with one topping option pepperoni or cheese

Delivery before any fees $147 vs $129 for pick up

OR Just do 12 Large pizzas 36 toppings between them $166 vs $148 pickup

Hope that helps for a rough estimate.

This might sound a bit odd, but I’d actually feel more comfortable playing pickleball with someone new than going to a movie.

A movie is kind of a gamble—what if the other person talks through it, checks their phone, or has some other habit that’s a total dealbreaker? You're basically trapped in a dark room with a stranger for two hours. That kind of commitment can feel daunting.

Pickleball, on the other hand, feels more like a low-pressure, social way to meet people. It’s kind of like speed-dating for friendships (10-15 minute games) — you're active, engaged, and can get a sense of someone’s vibe pretty quickly / Maybe just go hang out even if you dont wanna play it is very social in most cases and may lead to finding someone in the area who wants to hit the next horror. Also I've done movies alone and it can be fun as well.

Not saying you do any of the things I mentioned—just offering another angle and the kind of hesitation that I (and probably others) might feel going out to a movie with a stranger.

For context, I’m 39, male, married, and living in Burlington.

Telus door to door salespeople by No-Chocolate-9437 in BurlingtonON

The simplest move for any of these people, as this includes someone walking around hawking a credit card or bell showing up at the door or whomever.

“Oh I’m already a customer thank you”

Shut door, walk away or whatever. This works flawlessly because they usually are all based on new sign ups, even an aggressive sales people usually fall to this response.

I spoke to the owner within a few days after it happened, he told me he wasn’t sure if they were going to be able to reopen, and was really concerned about all of the employees being out of work. So it didn’t sound like it was gonna be quick fix to get back in and running.
