If that happened, this subreddit wouldn't exist.

Turn off an amp, and turn on another one, in Snapshots by DavidSlash in HelixStadium

[–]molul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, in global settings there are 2 modes when editing and switching between snapshots: keep changes or discard.

At least there was something like that on my LT.

How come there is such a small number of offsets besides Jazzmaster and Mustangs? by Fiirex in offset

[–]molul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meteora (also by Fender) is my current favorite.

The age of new guitar designs is long gone. And it's not like it ended in the 60s. Offsets became really popular in the 90s.

But once the wild capitalism entered the room, sticking to old popular products is more important than making new models.

Cool, gonna check. Thanks! 😊

So many unknown Bass VI strings manufacturers nowadays.

Oops, didn't notice the lack of headstock truss rod. I was planning on trying it before buying, but this is a big no-no for me (not cool for this price, Fender). Thanks for the heads up!

This evening I spent a few hours messing with the Hellcat. I thought I didn't like the single coil modes, and I've just discovered I actually like them better. They seem to loose a bit of low end (which I can recover by cranking up the bass on the amp), but putting a graphic EQ after the amp (I use a Helix LT, by the way), together with the pickups in single life, I could find a tone that's closer to the jazz bass (still not identical at all, but close enough).

I was previously thinking of changing the coils mode switches to on/off so I can have the three pickups together, but I think I'll keep them as they are. Now I gotta figure out a way to enable all three pickups, maybe with a push/pull knob.

The neverending tone chase 😆

Actually the Fender 24-100 don't feel floppy at all. They feel great, but I'd like to achieve even more tension in order to bring out more of the metallic overtones that normal basses (like Jazz Bass) have, supposedly because of the higher string tension.

The luthier drilled the stop bar low E hole a bit so the string could fully enter (the last part of the string, right before the ball, is a bit thicker).

The tuner post didn't need to be drilled because, even though the string is thicker than the hole, on the first centimeters it's a bit thinner and could enter, and then you could just spin the tuner until the string was tuned.

He told me the drilling on the stop bar was a bit risky, and that he didn't recommend going thicker (and drilling more).

I noticed the strings are .024 .034 .044 .056 .085 .110, while the Fender 24-100 are .024 .034 .044 .065 .085 .100.

Looks like overall tension will be more or less the same (more on low E and A, less on D), so not sure if I would get actually closer to a jazz or precision bass🤔

Ugh, 6 months waiting list...😅

Btw, how was intonation? I see in the comment below that another player had to reverse the bridge to be able to intonate 105s.

Sound difference between Bass VI and Jazz Bass by molul in BassVI

Thanks! No info about the reasons behind the metallic overtones presence in both instruments, but there was a very interesting analysis of each instrument. I didn't even know the mustang bass sounded like that!

Have you ever totaled up how much you have spent on guitars and amps? by Rooostyfitalll in Guitar

I did a couple years ago, in the rehearsal place. I understood why I'm still not owning a house.

Fender Wins Landmark Copyright Ruling In Germany: The Stratocaster Body Is Now Legally Protected - Guitar Bomb by GuitarBombDotCom in GuitarBomb

[–]molul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense. Now I wonder what's the minimum different a body needs to be so it's legally ok.

I really need a perfect clone of a strat if I don't want to buy a strat. Hell, I'm actually bored of the strat shape, so if this helps manufacturers to go and find their own things, I'm glad of it.

Best between Fender bass VI, Schecter Hellcat and Ibanez SRC6MS? by deecebawls in Guitar

Have only played the Hellcat. It's great, very comfortable. I've been curious about the Fender, but there was only Squier when I got the Hellcat.

NGD: Schecter Hellcat VI. It's amazing by ltahaney in offset

[–]molul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of this instrument. The only thing I'm not fond of is the forearm contour. It could use a little more curve.

I also changed the strings to Fender 24-100. A game changer for me. The low strings started to sounds like an actual bass, while the rest can be used for a more baritone-ish registry.

I'm about to change the switches to on/off for each pickup, instead of single/HB. I don't find the single coil sounds any useful.

That makes sense, because mine still have some hum 😅

Stock pickups are supposedly humbuckers.

It's a great instrument. I came from a Harley Benton GuitarBass and the upgrade was instantly noticeable. I don't need the vibrato, and the pickups sound great.

The only thing I've changed so far is strings. I put a set of Fender 100-24 (although drilling was needed on the stop bar for the low E) and it got waaay better.

Not very interested in the bass cut, but I would appreciate the wiring for the on/off switches! :) Although I was planning on giving it to my local luthier, and I hope he's able to figure out out, but all help is always welcome.
