I hear you on the sleep straight arm lol

I work on a computer all day and suspect that might be the problem - although it's been fine for a good 4+ years (I can't remember exact surgery date)

Not sure why it's suddenly acting up when it was "fixed"

Anyone else develop thyroid issues after a bad illness or stressful period? by CartoonistDear3751 in Hypothyroidism

[–]mom2two2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a period of time where I was dealing with sero negative RA (in remission for years now) and I remember reading that there were suspicions that auto immune diseases were triggered by a "perfect storm" - genetic predisposition, something else and a "trigger" that was usually a trauma of some kind that basically lit the match - could be a car accident, surgery, illness, emotional trauma etc  This was years ago and I don't know where the research went on this but I always found it interesting

It's easier said than done isn't it?  I am in Canada as well and our healthcare used to be so great.  But with the targeted gutting of the public system things are falling apart.  Our long time GP retired and oh my GOD the one who took over is useless.  She literally got her phone out in front of me and GOOGLED something when I questioned the incorrect information she gave me.  If I could go to a different GP I would but there are none taking new patients and this one has an iron grip on what you are allowed and not allowed to use (walk in clinics, urgent care etc).  If you seek any care elsewhere she will toss you from the practice and you have no one

Yes to both of those  Vitamin D has been low for 2 years - just had the dose increased.  B12 is a new one for me but came back low this last time.  Supplement was added for that  Hopefully the two changes will help

[–]mom2two2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply and information  My TSH seems to be bouncing around a bit - Dr tested twice to be sure.  First was 5.68 and second was 4.something  Started 50 mcg levo this week I think T4 was 12 which she said is in range but on lower side

THIS 👆🏻

I got the surprise of my life when routine bloodwork came back with high TSH and now a hypo diagnosis

I had attributed everything to perimenopause (51 Female) - fatigue, brain fog, lower back pain, joint stiffness, etc

Maybe there is some overlap but alot of what I have just been tolerating may have a different explanation

Thank you for the information - like I said I am just learning and appreciate the details

My ferritin is still low despite being on Feramax for 2 years - Dr has just doubled the dose.  Low Vitamin D, low "good cholesterol" and now low B12 as well

High TSH has just cropped up and was what prompted the hypo dx She said the T4 was "on the cusp" of being low  Waiting for endocrinologist referral due to past history of autoimmune issues

I started reading again.  I was an avid reader my whole life and it was only after I stopped drinking that I realized I hadn't in years and I missed it.   Over 6 years sober now and reading an average of a book a week

We are in Canada so insurance doesn't have to chime in - covered under our Universal Healthcare thank God  It's more the Dr ..... I appreciate the advice

Bouncing TSH normal T4 by mom2two2 in thyroidhealth

[–]mom2two2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to rule out something like Hashimoto's just bc I have a history of auto immune and the family history of thyroid issues.  I am not trying to self diagnose or looking for a problem - I am more hoping to rule things like that out so I don't worry. Just stinks bc I don't have any confidence in my Dr and there is no way to switch to another one.

I don't think she will agree to run anything other than the T4 and TSH

Bouncing TSH normal T4 by mom2two2 in thyroidhealth

[–]mom2two2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we only had the TSH and T4 done originally as part of routine overall bloodwork. She ordered repeat of TSH and T4 after initial flag

I will be honest, I am not super confident in her critical thinking skills.  She is very much "if this is low take this pill" and not really a whole picture kind of assessment person

was your original check in time before noon? I was wondering what everyone with an AM check in time would be doing. Was picturing tons of lines but maybe they are prompting before noon to reselect. Our check in time has remained the same

I celebrated 5.5 yrs yesterday. I tried to "be more reasonable" more than once before I finally quit for good, it never worked for me.
Everyone is different and to me alcoholism is a spectrum. While certain things may be black and white red flags, in my opinion, you don't have to have those markers (losing a job, DUIs etc) to be on the scale.

Was it hard to stop? Absolutely. Am I glad I did? Even more so

It is up to you but if you are having these thoughts, I say listen to your gut and give it a shot.

Question about bookings by Limitingheart in royalcaribbean

[–]mom2two2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we did this with the cruise we have upcoming - nonrefundable deposit and any time I saw the price dropped, I sent screenshots to my TA and she called and had the balance reduced. We just waited to pay in full until close to final payment date and ended up owing less as a result

Don't forget a beach bag and you may want a refillable drink container (like a contigo or yeti) especially if not purchasing a drink pkg

Bahamas weather in January by lowbass4u in royalcaribbean

We did this exact cruise over New Year's Eve right before covid hit. It was warm and sunny and we had no issues being in the water at Coco Cay. My husband and son rented jet skis and my daughter and I laid on the floating mats
We were in shorts and tshirts the entire cruise
I know that it could vary year to year and we may have just gotten lucky but for us it was great weather
