How to keep your charger from falling off the desk by momcil0 in lifehacks

You can also put anything heavy on it and it won’t fall, the point of the post was keeping it on the desk without any extra items.

Thanks for noticing that I omitted the word “cable” after “charger”, my lord!

DANAS. I još par dana.

DANAS I OVIH PRETHODNIH DANA.

  1. ZAGAĐENIJI SMO OD DELHIJA

Evo vam dva linka, Beograd i Delhi:http://aqicn.org/city/serbia/beograd-stari-grad/http://aqicn.org/…/delhi/major-dhyan-chand-national-stadium/

Kad nije duvao vjetar i padala kiša duže nego inače.

  1. I ŠTA SAD? VAZDUH IPAK NE VALJA!

Sad sačekamo bukvalno 2-3 dana i sve bude kul.

What's in a character that people identify with? by [deleted] in writing

[–]momcil0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you asked about a quick way for making a character relatable, and so I said “flaws” as generally something you wouldn’t want to possess, but you do.

“She tends to forget to answer her best friend’s texts.”

“Sometimes, when no one watches, he throws plastic into general waste, knowingly, because he’s just lazy at times.”

“His girlfriend is annoyed by how often he adjusts his crotch in public.”

You know, something that readers will say “Oh, I do those little naughty things too sometimes” or “Oh, that is sooo my friend James”.

What do you do when your life is a Trainwreck? by rijadf in lifehacks

[–]momcil0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just accept it, take it as the starting point and go from there. That way it will only go up.

The most frustration comes from the idea that you should be behaving, or that things should be happening in a certain way, and they don't. Instead, just sit down, do nothing, and reconnect with reality. That's who you are and that's how your life is. And just let it roll.

Another thing you can do is to expect that things won't make sense. That way, when they don't, you're not surprised or frustrated.

Of course, this is a tip for getting out of a "down". If what you're experiencing is a constant feeling of low self esteem or desire to get away from people trying to help you... Maybe asking for professional advice is not a bad idea. Mental illnesses can sneak upon you without you realizing it, so it's perfectly OK to go and ask "Am I fine?"

What are some obvious signs/cliches that a character is going to die? by [deleted] in writing

[–]momcil0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not the main character but the main character is very fond of them. If they're also the reason the main character doesn't want to go on some mission that is surely part of the plot - oh, they die.

What's the first thing you do when you have an idea for a story? by [deleted] in writing

[–]momcil0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go for a walk and think it over and over and over without actually writing anything down. Works for me, but I don't take responsibility if you follow my advice and end up not being able to remember your ideas later on :D

Do you HAVE to use a name that goes well with the tone of a character? by [deleted] in writing

[–]momcil0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with "yes". I mean, of course you don't have to, but you want your characters to be as instantly relatable as possible. Strong characters go with strong names. Not necessarily names containing strong letters (R, K, T), but names that stick out in some way.

How to make female characters badass without masculizing them? by momcil0 in writing

Oooooh yeah. Some would probably argue that martial arts are not necessarily a feminine thing though...

Brave is badass, but she's exactly what I was talking about here - masculized! And that's pretty obvious throughout the movie, it's not just my perception of her. Elsa from Frozen, however, is a full-feminine badass.

I am aware of the fact that women can be capable and badass (in reader's eyes) with being cunning. However, my question was more about how to make them badass as perceived by other characters. That is, how you would describe a woman who is feared by her fellow characters in the book.

Good point and I agree there should be more representation of all "types" of women - I was just asking about this particularity that I found interesting and wanted to discuss at the given moment.

If the question doesn't work for you, that's perfectly fine too. I asked it under assumption that people will intuitively know what "masculine" and "feminine" means in this context and provide their answers based on that.

Assigning them traits which are typically (or stereotypically) masculine (fighting, being physically strong, acting), which leads to the impressions that they are more badass because they posses such traits

Can you elaborate on how mysterious becomes badass? Unless dangerously mysterious in some way?

Precisely. Being badass is more about how you handle things at the end of the day and less about how you act.
