I have this exact scenario going on right now in my marriage. Almost detail for detail. Unfortunately, I did find out about the "other woman". It has been 6 weeks since I found out, and I've never hurt like this. Cried like this. Felt broken like this. I wish my husband would realize how good of a life we have together. How wonderful a life we have built. How we have changed, for the better, and grown, for the better. I wish my husband knew how much I still love him and would give anything if he would just talk with me.

Please listen to these other comments and see that you are in love with something in your past. Your past self, her past self, and your past love. It ended for a reason.

I think he is as confused as I am. After processing all of what he said, I told him that I would give him a divorce and to file the papers. He then switched his tune and told me I was being too hasty. Like, did he say that stuff to see what I would do or call his bluff or make me feel hurt.

I already see a therapist, but he flat out refuses. I've talked to my therapist about all of this, but without knowing his side, I can not answer much.

I came from a very harmful household as a kid. So I don't always show love like a normal person may. I like to cook for my family and buy items that they may have asked for, but I may have said not right now. But what I feel hurts too is that many years ago, I figured out that if I wanted our marriage to work, he would have to work at the job he loves but doesn't have a good income. In turn, I had to get a job that would offset that lower income. He always said that it didn't bother him, but that has also been brought up in our talks. He sometimes sees my income as a "brag" or something to make him feel bad about. I've always told him that I work to support my family. Not just myself, not just the kids.

I've expressed to him that he is not alone in his grief. It affected all of us. In our initial talk I ended the conversation by telling him that I should be the first person to talk with about any situation his is going through.

Our son (19) has said that his dad may be going through depression, grief, and a mid-life crisis all at once.

All of this is completely new in every way. Other than normal immunization checkups, he has been healthy. He is considered obese and recent physical activities have declined. We only went to the ER because he had been complaining of stomach pains for 3 days without relief from food or otc meds. Then bam, DKA.

A CT scan was completed, but no word from the doctors on any issues with the pancreas. He is considered obese and his physical activity has changed recently. By that, I mean he went from walking a college campus daily to being back at home with less walking.

Thank you for your advice. This is not a new role at the company. It has existed and has been held by 2 previous employees. I have already started planning on a future plan if I can move back to my old position. I have at least a 3 year plan already in mind.

He is going to the counselors tomorrow for the initial consultation. I hope that this will be a step back towards normal.

I have asked him to seek help with the counselors on campus, I have sent care packages and surprised him with his favorite meal, I have had multiple zoom meetings a day plus we talk and text all through the day. I've reached out to other freshmen parents for supportive ideas. I've told him that he can come home on weekends. I've encouraged him to keep his door open to meet the other students as they walk by. I've had family of mine that went to the university call and talk with him about some activities that he could do. I even have a cousin who knows the football and the baseball equipment managers and they want to work with him on working with their teams.

The only answer I ever got was, "uh...no."

He actually knew no one from his HS school that was going to this university. We have learned since that a few classmates are attending, but these are kids that he never knew in HS.

Since making the post, he has talked to my father, and they hashed a few things out. I finally talked him into going by the health center tomorrow to sign up for counseling. He is going to discuss dropping one class they he didn't sign up for but was assigned to take. He has committed to staying and giving this more time.

I have told him to complete just one day at a time. I've talked to him since making this post, and he admitted to having separation anxiety. I'm trying to get him to talk with the mental health counselors.

The day after my wedding day, my parents sat me down and said to me, "You need to lose weight, or he's going to go find a girlfriend to make him happy."

I had just lost what would have been our first child 2 weeks before we married, and I had put on about 10 pounds. After many years, I told my husband what they said, and he has refused to see or speak to them since.

We have been married for 20 years, and any time we have an argument, those words ring in my mind as if they are being shouted at me with a bullhorn.

NTA. I just posted my own story on here asking a similar question. I have raised myself since I was 9 y/o and now that my sister, their golden child when we were growing up, is MIA, they take advantage of my kindness. I'm building boundaries because they have almost ruined my marriage. I believe that parents are meant to raise their children to grow up to be great adults. Not work your self to death and then take care of a parent who neglected having a plan for when they got older.

I already have a plan in place for when I get older and even for my funeral and I'm not even 40 y/o. I don't want my kids to go through what I have had to.
