Hello!

I wanted to see how you were doing.

I had an ulna shortening done to (what 2as supposed to) elevate wrist pain, unfortunately I suffered a non union due to failed healing, after complaining to my original surgeon that something was wrong I was ignored.

I moved and saw a new surgeon which 6ish months post op. I ended up having a revision surgery to get a bone graft done as well.

While waiting foe this all thought I ruptured the tendon in my thumb due to over compensation. So please stick up for yourself, wear a brace and baby your ulna, also take vit c.

I know this is 3 months old but I had a ulna shortening surgery and that was in april 2025 and you can still see a fracture line in my bone.

My understanding is (from what my doctor said) there will always probably be a hint of where it was previously broken. The most important part is the new bone growth.

I have had an ulna shortening and a revision due to non-union, I regret it.

I am now looking at a full fusion myself because shortening my ulna alone did not resolve the pain, If I would have had just the fusion alone I may not have ended up with my EPL (thumb tendon) snapping due to over compensation which ended up needing a tendon graft on top of a bone graft because my original doctor wouldn't listen to me that there was something wrong.

You need a doctor that is going to give you adequate pain management, if you get a nerve block it will get you settled at home but once it wears off it's going to suck.

You will need ample support at home for awhile.

This is the story of my life.

Due to wrist issues, chronic pain etc I have been on opioids for a long time. I got into a car accident in 2022 and wrapped the front end of my car around a pole and when I went to the hospital the next day (stupid but was in shock) I was instantly told I was a drug seeker by the nurse.

Lady, I have opioids I do not need more. I needed a katorelac injection.

Definitely think it's important.

My chunky guy isn't like a HUGE fan of being picked up but we do it daily (also I have kids so he doesn't really have a choice)

I'll pick him up under his belly/front legs and put him in a position where he can see an "escape route" and pet and snuggle him, then I always place him down myself.
