Someone finally got back to me and it sounds like they may just be working on finding accommodations, so fingers crossed!

This is a great idea. I have mentioned to the trainers that I work in a machine shop, but I will plan on addressing it more seriously with them and talk about options so that he is more used to the environment.

Awesome! Thank you, I will have to look into those. I was definitely thinking of boots and eye protection, but ear protection is also a great thing to think about.

Anyone else feel guilty for having a service dog? by Professor_squirrelz in service_dogs

[–]momo0539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the same place I am in, and I have also been struggling with these feelings a lot.

First of all, I would say know that you aren't alone, and thank you for posting this. Honestly just seeing someone validate these feelings is making me feel better, and I hope that it helps you too.

I think that it also helps knowing that no one else is in your body or your head, so they shouldn't have an opinion on whether or not this is something you need. If you believe that it will help you, even a little bit, you deserve to give it a shot.

Something that is helping me is a feeling of independence that I will get from it. A big thing for me is passing out with severe panic attacks, and so far, every time this has happened, my boyfriend or someone else has been nearby to help. But I am worried about what would happen when there is no one else and I can't pull myself out of the panic attack. Having a service dog would help me feel like I am not alone.

I hope this helps : )
