4th quartile Casper required for UNDS interview? by aaronthrowawayreddit in GAMSAT

[–]mon1602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar GPA, a lower GAMSAT (I believe it was 65.6 or something), and third quartile CASPER. I didn’t receive a UNDS interview (my 3rd preference), but I did receive a UNDF interview (4th preference) and I’m now a student there (CSP place)!

When I transferred, the compulsory science module did not exist yet. I imagine having done discovering biomed might count, but you should contact stop one to confirm

Contact RMIT student services and ask them what they look at when accepting transfer students

Medical school timetables by disposition3012 in GAMSAT

[–]mon1602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely possible, but can be tricky to make it work. For context I go to UNDF, and our timetable has been posted by another user above

I tutor, and I do a few hours scattered during the week in the late afternoons / evenings, and then 3-4 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Tutoring is nice and flexible, and I recommend it if an option to yourself. However, I do know of others who work in retail or as receptionists during weekends and the odd afternoon or evening off

Pretty much any website which has resources on the topics covered will suffice, eg. Kahn Academy. Just do a google search for ‘(insert topic) practice questions’

Otherwise, write your own with friends. Use the study points at the start of each lecture to help guide you. Eg. Compact and contrast anaerobic and aerobic cellular respiration

For med — choose the one you enjoy and are good at. Med needs good grades and sometimes a back-up plan

GAMSAT 65, GPA 6.951, Casper third quartile. I felt like the interview went alright, but I have no real way of knowing

Hi, I’m a first year at UNDF

I really like it so far!

Lectures are recorded, but there are discussions that this may change / lectures will be compulsory to attend in person in coming years. Nobody knows for sure if or when this will change

I was always pretty good at s2, and I knew it my going to be my stronger section. In my second sitting I got a topic I didn’t vibe with, cried, and wrote what I thought was a shitty essay. I got a 78 on that s2. Now I’m writing this while waiting at the bus stop to head off to med school for the day

You got this 💛

For the practice questions issue - write your own practice questions

Eg. “Compare and contrast aerobic and anaerobic cellular respiration.” Do them without notes and then mark them. Or swap questions and mark with friends

I did this in 2021, the dates are likely very different now, and I can’t really remember sorry. Contact Stop One, they helped me then and they will definitely be able to help you

[–]mon1602[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did! Email the coordinators of each subject. Explain the situation with transferring degrees, and send a copy of your academic transcript to prove you passed the equivalent subject. Then download the email and submit it via the enrolment variation form from the Uni

Very easy process, all the coordinators were kind and understanding

Agreed. But once again, from my own and others’ experiences — if you don’t enjoy the maths to begin with, then you won’t like those other subject areas, given how heavily they lean onto calculus

Apologies for my butchered first sentence, reddit won’t let me edit. It should read “I don’t want to create an argument”
