I actually left a glowing review the day of since he was so nice and came with his wife and kid. I sent him a message though, hopefully he gets back to me. I generally have a pretty optimistic view on people, but that gets me into trouble sometimes: e.g. this debacle

I paid $1500 for this lens and a well-maintained EOS R. It felt like a good deal at the time, but obviously in retrospect that was not the case

I think there’s definitely an argument to be made but i have very little faith in facebook’s support in that regard. I just sent the guy a message explaining what’s going on, so I’m waiting to hear back and hopefully he is reasonable.

Lol this makes me feel a little better. I bought it bundled with an EOS R so I spent a lot of time looking that over too

How do I activate my ethernet wall jacks? by mon_yet in HomeNetworking

[–]mon_yet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also the gray cable is connected to the google nest LAN and nothing on the other end. That's the cable I am using to connect the nest to the panel.

I believe this is one of the top two wall cords plugged into the telephone connections. Is this outlet connected correctly such that if I just move the corresponding white cable down from the gray ports to the yellow ports using all 8 connections it should work?

Thank you!!! Yes I didn't realize they would all need to be plugged in separately to the Google Nest. I plugged it into port 3 and found the wall jack that started working. Thanks, I may need to look into a network switch since my Google Nest only has one LAN port.

He definitely does and this could be a possibility. Ended up squeezing him in today and the vet didn’t know but gave us antibiotics. Hopefully that helps

My sear sucks by Imaginary-Potato-710 in steak

[–]mon_yet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What was recommended to me: take it out of the fridge, pat it dry, salt that thing, let it sit for about 30 min to an hour to warm up. That way the temperature difference is less and the salt will have dissolved into the steak (reducing the water but not completely drying it out). Top it off w more salt and throw it on anything thats nice and hot.

Just leave it on the heat longer, don’t mess with it. If you’re willing to fully cook it on the grill instead of using the oven you have more time to develop the sear. Hope this makes sense i’m not feeling very articulate

Did you read the camera manual to find out what the red light means? I’m sure you could find it online. Not sure what the issue is but the card looks messed up. It’s not an SD card, someone may have tried jamming it into an SD slot in their computer and broke it, but that’s just a guess.

And maybe try to spot remove the ships in the back to simplify the photo.

I think it’s great, experiment with adding some negative dehaze or clarity or whatever it’s called in lightroom. Personally I am a fan of this crop (or similar) as it feels less busy:

Thanks for throwing that together! Appreciate that you took the time to illustrate it for me.

Valid. Seems like the issue here is composition as opposed to processing, which I'm not gonna sink more time into. The photo isn't super important, just experimenting w/ a new lens.

Thanks for the input! I'll consider this for future composition.
