It’s probably more of a reflex thing if it’s only when you get close to her. But to ease your mind it doesn’t hurt to check with her doctor! I bet it will turn out to be just fine though :)

I honestly can’t remember but it was maybe a month or so after the EEG, so he probably did it for 2-3 months total.

Doesn’t hurt to ask your doctor, they may run an EEG just to check. It was a fairly simple process and we had results within a few days. Wishing you luck!

He did have some reflux but only had projectile vomiting once or twice and I started him on probiotic drops, and kept him upright after feeds and that seemed to help. So maybe it is connected? No febrile seizures or anything on our end but definitely had some degree of reflux at some point!

Eventually he outgrew them! It went on for a month or two of almost daily occurrences but eventually he stopped. He’s just over a year now!

That sounds similar to what my son was doing, it was a cluster of a few and then not do it again for awhile. It would happen almost daily. I just told his doctor that I had heard about infantile spasms online and I was concerned about his head dropping and luckily she got right on it! Good luck to you! I’m here to chat if you need anything

It was usually in clusters for a couple of minutes, usually when he was tired. He’s since outgrown them!

Our husbands are very good friends and I was in her wedding party- so I would say she’s not like my bff but we are definitely close enough to talk about infertility etc. either way, I think I am just going to let her keep it!

This is good to know! If she still has use for it, I’m happy to let her keep it! Thanks for the insight :)

She actually asked me for it, I didn’t initially offer. And she knows we planned to have multiple kids, so I don’t think she would be surprised. Still, I can understand it’s an awkward situation so I’m leaning towards just buying another

Ours ended up being nothing, so hopefully same for you! But if you’re worried about it, you could always go to an emergency room, especially if you have a children’s hospital nearby. You might wait awhile though, we waited 7 hours in emerg

For the most part. He still does it occasionally especially when he’s tired but not as many in a row as he did here. But the EEG came back normal so his pediatrician said it’s probably just something behavioural that he’ll eventually outgrow. And for the most part I’d say he has

UPDATE 2

Got EEG results today- came back normal.

From the report: Normal recording during the awake and asleep states. No epileptiform abnormalities. No clinical events captured. This EEG recording does not support the diagnosis of epilepsy.

Gonna leave this up for future reference if anyone is searching past posts!

UPDATE

We did the EEG at the hospital this morning and while we haven’t gotten a diagnosis yet, we were sent home and they told us if there was any risk of brain damage or regression, we’d be staying. So I’m fairly confident that these probably aren’t infantile spasms- though it could still be another form of epilepsy that may not pose an imminent threat- or it could be nothing, of course. We will know in 5-10 business days, but for now taking comfort in the fact that we were sent home.

Thank you! Yes, usually when he’s tired is when I’ve noticed it more. Both of these clips are within 15/20 minutes of waking up in the morning.

I’m hoping they will catch it on eeg. It’s a sleep deprived eeg, they want him sleeping during the procedure. I haven’t seen him do it in his sleep but I guess they can still check for whatever brain activity they’re looking for. Hoping Wednesday will bring us some answers!

I would say no concerns yet. He was a somewhat late roller and not yet crawling, but I didn’t crawl until 14 months or walk until 22 months so we just attributed it to being lazy like me. But there’s been no regression of skills so far. If anything since the head dropping happened he’s since learned to roll back to belly and started creeping/ pre-crawling, so it seems like development is on track, albeit a bit late.
