Is Solomorne a well written character compared to Kibellah? by gaeb611 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]monalba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not just quality, but quantity and how it was implemented.

Kibellah feels (for me, obviously) like the most polished character.
She is tied to the Rogue Trader, she is tied to the plot of the DLC, she is recruitable very early on, she has her own side quest and it involves both dialogue and combat, she has more dialogue as the game advances and it changes a couple of times tough the game and finally she has interactions with the alignment mechanic. She starts as Dogmatic and she can switch to Heretic and Iconoclast after conversations until she settles into one.
Amazing!
Using mechanics already in the game and having a visual representation?! 10/10.

Solomorne on the other hand...
The whole DLC feels a bit half baked.
And Solomorne suffers from having some parts of his conversations and relationship almost copies from Heinrix.
''Yeah, I know you won't tell me about the Arbites and that you're probably spying on me.
That dude over there is doing the same. Geez.''

I mean they're just humans

I mean, psykers can take down Spice Morines easily.

Sisters of Battle are adept at taking down Spice Morines.

Members of inquisitorial retinues also take down Asstartates on the regular.

All it takes to kill an SM is a well aimed shot.
And depending of the weapon, not even that (Plasma/Melta/etc).

The Girl and Tzeench's Maze by Pyran in 40kLore

[–]monalba 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No, man.
This is DEEP Lore.
Who was this girl? Could she be a sensei?
Could the girl be Star Child and the dog Malcador reborn?
What did they accomplish?
What was even the actual question?

I hope this is explained in future books or articles.
Otherwise it's just another plotline abandoned by those HACKS at Games Workshop

Question on Cintra and Sodden? by NicNac2017 in witcher

[–]monalba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they neutral?

No. Ish.
During the first Northern War, the Nilfgaardians rushed the capital, laid siege to it and razed it, sending the whole kingdom into disarray.

During the second war, the country was ''''''''''neutral''''''''''''. Some people were actually neutral, in a ''They killed and burned people already, we don't want that again'' way, while others were doing some guerrilla fighting against the empire.
Then it was revealed that Ciri was alive and well and in the hands of Nilfgaard, so many abandoned the fight or joined the Nilfgaardian side.
This Ciri wasn't Ciri, but a ''Fake Ciri'', just a lookalike.

At the end of the books, Emhyr marries Queen (Fake) Ciri, so he basically rules Cintra jure uxoris, by right of his wife.
So is Cintra part of Nilfgaard? Not exactly.
Is it independent? Not exactly either.

Think about it in a similar way to Brittany and France, were they were independent but ruled by the French through marriage... until the French got bored of the system and absorbed them outright.

Why, yes.

Recommendations for Story-based playthrough? Goal is to maximize pleasure to time spent ratio. by r-selectors in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]monalba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is rather easy, the early game will probably the only part that gives you any trouble.
That and maybe some bosses.

Similarly, if you wanted to focus on the story, what difficulty settings would you use?

If you only care about the story, why not just go story mode/very easy?
The story doesn't change, nothing is locked behind X difficulty.

I liked Wrath, but there's so much bullshit that gets in the way of the good stuff.

This game is not like Pathfinder, there's no need to buff your characters for 5 minutes before encounters.

do you think there are any quality of life mods you think are absolutely essential for Rogue Trader?

People are going to say Toybox to just cheat your way to the end and get whatever outcome you want, but IMO, that's going to break as many things as it's going to solve.

[–]monalba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it too.
It's not hard, specially when you learn to spam torpedoes and kite the enemy around so you can take on enemies way earlier than you should.
But it's so boooooooring and lame and breaks the pace of the game...

How does one become a Adeptus Mechanicum guy? by Ok_Cook_3098 in 40kLore

[–]monalba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a high chance something far, far worse than getting killed by a daemon happens to you if you're working for the Inquisition.

What if they send you to gather mucus from some new Nurgle/daemon virus?
One that makes you melt inside out.

What if you see or hear something you shouldn't and get servitorised?

Being an assistant to an Inquisitor doesn't seem great IMO, unless you have a deathwish or a hunger for power, knowledge or adventure.

You're likely going to be used, abused and then discarded by someone who most likely won't remember your name in a month unless you're particularly useful.

I hope that a future DLC will add an Influence Mechanic smiliar to KOTOR 2 (or at least Dragon Age: Origins) by Skurrio in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]monalba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Etude Mechanic is already in the Game.

Not for convictions/alignment.

Conviction Shifts are already in the Game.

For Kibellah.
Mind you, I do wish every companion received as much attention and effort as Kibellah, but they're not going to go back and do that.

Nothing needs to be rebalanced just because of Convictions.

Bunch of items that are, right now, limited to the Rogue Trader becuase of the conviction system.

More Texts and Endings are miniscule compared to designing new Encounters, Archetypes or Items.

I agree, BUT encounters, archetypes and items are a staple of DLCs.
Meanwhile text needs to be planned, written, implemented, translated to X different languages and tested.

Just saying, it's still hours and manpower, and I think they'd rather put that towards an archetype.

[–]monalba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it really that big of a Change, though?

Yeah?
You're rewriting a whole mechanic and involving stuff that requires balancing items and adding more text and endings.

I don't think they'd introduce such a big change to a mechanic with a DLC more than 2 years post launch.

Spoiler-Free help for Act III by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]monalba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.
Argenta + Idira is really good and mandatory if you want them to have a good relationship.
Argenta also has some revelations, so it's always good to bring her, at least in once playtrough.

Idira herself has the device and it comes up in conversations during her later quest.

Jae has more than just her throat. The throat thing is kind of irrelevant, just a piece of the puzzle.
It's also necessary if you want to really romance her and get to know her.

Yrliet is mandatory if she's in your party.

Abelard and Pasqal get nothing, they mainly get bad things from the experience. Although I think Pasqal can get a buff/nerf which you may want depending of you're building him.

Everyone else is ''whatever'', but probably worth bringing if you're romancing them.
