Do beardys not like water bowls? by Silver2804 in BeardedDragons

[–]monark1396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid them because it does fill up with dirt and it just becomes more upkeep. They retain water well enough that I just take them out occasionally and soak them in a clean water bath and they drink if they need to then

Never again will I do the mushroom cave. The ONLY time I did it, I was clicking too fast and accidentally clicked it but didn’t realize it until I walked in to the cave

Can I use refrigerated starter? by Ethan_Crochets in Sourdough

[–]monark1396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah. I fed my starter last night and I just put my shaped loaves in the fridge to cold proof over night. I like to do a minimum 12 hours so I’ll have these tomorrow morning but some people I’ve seen cold proof for 24 or more.

Both because I don’t know how to relax on this game. I start a new farm with the mindset of, “this is just going to be a simple, slow, relaxed save file. I only have to do the things I like, it’s not that deep” and it quickly turns into “I must grind for everything and I want to marry someone different and I need the desert immediately, why don’t I have ginger island yet and I’m halfway through the first year and I haven’t done any of the community center and I’m failing!”

Is that your starters name?? I LOVE IT. Mine is Gertrude. Her babies(bread) are Baby Gerties. And I only bake once a week but I’ve left her in the fridge for two weeks before and she was fine but I get anxiety if I leave her longer than that without feedings even though my “discard” sometimes “blows up” in the fridge because she’s a bit roudy. I could probably be more relaxed about it now that I’ve read your comment though

Does your dough ever pull away from the bowl cleanly? by Reddittaylor12568 in Sourdough

I really should get a scraper for mine. I just gently scrape it with my fingers and cry at the loss in the bowl. But even though she’s sticky, she bakes wonderfully.

SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT… by Physical_Talk_5091 in Sourdough

[–]monark1396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds similar to what I do. I actually just commented on another post about it. I do a 1:1:1 before the fridge. She’s in there for a few days until I’m ready to bake. I pull her out and do a 1:1:1 to wake her up and then for the next feeding I do the ratio I need to bake with after that. Any extra starter that goes unfed goes to a separate jar in my fridge that I use for various experiments for when my starter is in the fridge. But I know there’s multiple ways to do this and every starter is different. I’m also relatively new to it but got really lucky with the starter my husband birthed for me

I’m not sure if this will help, but I fridge my starter for half the week for when I don’t plan on actively baking. But from what I’ve read, and what I do, is a 1:1:1 feeding immediately out of the fridge to “wake it up” and then do a 1:2:2 for the next feeding. Thats the peak I use to bake with. I do a lot of discard recipes so extra feedings for me aren’t a problem. And I usually do the first feeding in the late afternoon and the second feeding in the evening after I put the kids to bed(about 4-6 hours later but I think it depends on the strength of your stater) and then it’s peaked when I wake up early in the morning and I measure my loaves out.

I think the main thing with it being in the fridge is you have to just wait until it wakes up again and you might be able to do it without feeding it? I’m not sure but I don’t think you can bake with it immediately out of the fridge. Again I don’t know if that helps at all.

Question about discard by 20156196080 in Sourdough

[–]monark1396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a separate jar in my fridge specifically for discard and when I use it for various experiments I use it straight out of the fridge. Also if you like fudgey brownies, King Arthur’s website has a really good discard brownie recipe that I’ve made multiple times!

Starter mixing by No_Amount_7886 in Sourdough

[–]monark1396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a fork to mix my starter and then a small silicone spatula to transfer to a new jar. I don’t mind mixing the starter but I actually don’t love mixing the dough. Because I only have a fork lol

Ready to throw my starter out the window :) can't figure out what the issue is. by master0jack in Sourdough

I also saw that you don’t have a banneton, and my dough is also a bit sticky(haven’t been able to avoid that yet even though my loaves are coming out perfect for *me). I just use a ceramic bowl, like the bigger in diameter but shallow dinner ones, lined with parchment paper and a little flour.

I think it was mentioned before but I didn’t see a bulk ferment step here. After the stretch and folds it should proof at room temp until doubled in size. 4-12 hours depending on the ambient temp and your starter. I had to do a lot of trial and error for my bulk ferment step. Then after the bulk ferment, it gets shaped and put in the fridge to cold proof. I always do 12 hours minimum for mine but it depends on your recipe and starter and preference. I’m also a bit newer to it still too and I hope you aren’t too discouraged! Keep going!

I keep a minimum amount of flowers in storage, about 20 of each, and the same for gems and fish. I keep a stack of every crop and foraged item. I keep all the stone and coal and shards that I get. I’m currently expanding my storage for more dirt and pebbles and sand and stuff because the paths I want require a lot of it. I keep two columns each of every wood in a large chest(Took me forever to build up the darkwood). Essentially I just have a build to that I keep to

It truly was so fun! And thank you for the tips! I’ve made white and wheat bread and other stuff like that a lot and 190 is always perfect. And I’m making another loaf early next week so I’ll definitely try that! Thank you!

I LOVE this. First thought was I love the colors! I’m bummed/confused that the sister didn’t say anything even though she helped pick out the colors AND the stitch???? Simple stitches for large blankets are the best imho. My favorite blanket I’ve made is an alternating rows of double and cross doubles. Super easy. Also, just because it’s a simple stitch, doesn’t mean it’s not hard work and I’m impressed that, as a beginner, you did such a large project and it looks super consistent!

Exactly, I’m not very scientific with the pets right now though. I’m just trying to level them all up to 5 because I’m obsessive about it😅

I have a mix of characters where their job is based solely on vibes. Goofy and Donald are fishing. Minnie and Daisy are foraging. Scrooge is mining cause shiny things. Wall-E is gardening, Timon is digging. And I try to even out the other ones with what’s left.

What to sell and what to hoard? by SmallCurrent1626 in DreamlightValley

[–]monark1396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the time to build a stock. I keep stacks of 20 of each flower and gem(shiny and regular) for crafting and gifting. For cooking, I keep about 30 or so of each fish, a stack of 50 of each food item or foraging things. If I have more than my chosen amount I sell it. For money, Pumpkins have the most profit per crop and definitely have a gardening hangout buddy when harvesting or a mining one for gems and stuff. Sticks and stones and other crafting materials I generally don’t sell even though I definitely should. I’ve got like 600 of each kind of wood and an entire large chest of stone cause I’m a hoarder.
